Rooms with the feel of a cabin. When we first pulled up, we were excited cuz we thought maybe all the rooms were like cute little cabins, but we were just in a regular room. It was still pretty. We didn't really have any service, since we checked in after their office hours closed. They were kind enough to leave a key with my name on it in a basket.
It was difficult to find the office since it was after dark so we drove around a while until we got to the place where we could find the key. Then we had to drive around a while to find our room. Would have been nice to have a map with the key or something.
The room was comfortable and they provided towels and soap. The shower head is very short which is inconvenient if you're tall. But plenty of hot water. Huge tall ceilings gave a nice feeling of largeness to the room. When we did meet some people upon check out, they were very nice and friendly.
FYI, the first time in, Google maps directed us to the wrong side of the river and we ended up in a trailer park looking across the river at where we were supposed to be.
But it's a nice location and the town has that old timey walkabout feel so you can check out the local artisan shops in downtown, which is pretty close to...
Read moreWe needed a clean and comfortable 2-night stay during a hiking trip. This motel was one of the poorest we've stayed in. The good: a full-size coffee pot, a microwave, bedside lamps with phone charge outlets, a fridge - though this was so loud as to keep us up most of the night. The rest: we have rags in better shape than the old, worn out, paper-thin towels; the carpet was filthy; the thin walls meant we heard every guffaw and word from our neighbors (we were on the 2nd floor with a 'river view' which if you looked carefully through the trees, you can see the river; a sliding glass door to your deck that was so heavy and stuck so bad in the tracks that even for a very strong person was almost too heavy to open; the shower head hit me, at 5'5" tall, in the chest; bathroom fan that must be as old as the motel as it was loud as a wagon train; we didn't get a coffee packet refill for day 2; good thing we didn't want to hang anything in the closet as there was one old plastic hanger; sheets that were thin, rough, and very cheap, same with blanket and pillows; bed excruciatingly uncomfortable. At $286 for 2 nights, this was old west...
Read moreI had a fun stay here in one of the cabins. It was very clean and tidy. The Virginian is right outside the old west buildings and is quiet. There were two single beds and a double in a separate bedroom. The single beds are in the main part of the cabin where there's also a TV with DirecTV and a table with 3 chairs. There is a kitchenette with sink, mini fridge/freezer, microwave, dishes, silverware, coffee pot and hot plate. The bathroom is small but adequate with a shower. The cabin is all wood. Each has a bench, garbage can and lights strung on the cabin front. A shared lawn area has picnic tables, bbq and a hammock. My only gripe is when I turned on a baseboard heater at bedtime it made a jarring noise now and then as they sometimes do so I shut it off after I was warm. The fridge was a bit noisy too but I put on some rain sounds on my phone and was good to go. For the price it's great, funky and I would stay again. There's also a pizza place and grocery store that are a 5...
