I stayed for one night as a stop over on route to a destination. The place is showing quite a bit of age. The building itself looks very retro 80's. You might expect someone wearing shoulder pads to walk around the corner. Otherwise it has a gym, pool, and restaurant.
The walls seemed thin. The lady on the room next to mine started a conference call at 6:30am and I could hear the whole speaker phone conversations for an hour and a half. Maybe it wasn't the hotel's fault. Maybe the lady just had her speaker to maximum so I won't hold it against them. But bottom line in my area sound traveled very easily.
Nobody cleans up the cigarette butts on their rear entrance which is all they have working at the moment. Seriously, I know a lot of business travel comes through that brings throngs of stressed out travelers, but that's no excuse to not maintain the front. Ramp up the tidying instead.
I can forgive the unveiled construction, the thin walls, even the cigarette butts. It's Edison after all, not the Hamptons, and honestly in these types of hotels, I've dealt with worse and not complained. What I don't tolerate anywhere is rudeness. On check out there were two service women at the front desk. One was with a client the other just plugged away at her computer and did not acknowledge my presence even though I was the only other person there waiting. I was worn out but waited politely for a couple of minutes and then when I got impatient I said to the other girl "sorry, should I wait for you or is she taking customers" at which point the other lady called me over and checked me out in a matter of 10 seconds. Why then did she make me wait and pretend I wasn't there?
She's in customer service which means even if she's busy she should be able to extend an "I'll be with you in just a moment". She was a fellow Filipino (I think). If you are then I'd like to let you know that I've experienced this before with my country men treating each other like one is beneath the other. This could be an affectation stemming from a survivor mentality whereby those who have escaped the hardships of the Philippines is wary of other Filipinos as if they were a blight. I'm of the culture and find it prevalent so I'm keen on when this type of thinly veiled snubbing occurs. Maybe you don't know you're doing it? You should examine that. And if you're not Filipino then, ... this doesn't apply to you and I have no idea why you were rude, just that you simply were.
I'd like to remind you that customer service calls for objective and impartial service no matter who the customer is. We should never feel slighted in the least. If you can't be pleasant than I'm sorry but you just don't belong in the front desk of a business. I'm not trying to get you in trouble but I hope you read this and that it helps you grow as a...
Read moreDear APA Hotel Woodbridge Customer Service,
I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at your hotel from August 19 to August 23, 2024. I initially made a reservation for one night on August 19 but later extended my stay for two more nights until August 23 expecting that it maybe just one off issue. Unfortunately, I encountered several issues during my stay that significantly impacted my experience.
Broken Bed Spring: Upon checking in, I discovered that the bed spring in my room was completely broken. After unpacking all our luggage, we were informed that we needed to move to another room, which was quite inconvenient.
Locker Issue: In the second room, the locker was not functioning properly, and we were once again told that we would need to change rooms. I have attached a photo for your reference.
Bed Bug Found: To my dismay, I found a bed bug in one of the beds. I have attached a photo of this as well.
Non-Functional Bidet: The bidet in the washroom was not working, which was another inconvenience. A photo of this issue is also attached.
Overflowing Bathtub: The bathtub's drainage was poor, causing the water to overflow. This made using the bathtub quite challenging.
I came from Toronto, Canada, specifically to stay at your hotel, and these issues created a great deal of unpleasant experience. I chose APA Hotel because it is a 4-star hotel, and I expected a higher standard of quality and service. Unfortunately, these issues were more in line with what one might expect from a 2-star hotel, and I am deeply disappointed.I chose APA Hotel over the many other options available in the Jersey City and NYC vicinity, expecting a better experience than what those alternatives could offer.
Given the inconvenience and discomfort caused by these issues, I am requesting a compensation of $150 USD. I believe this is a fair request considering the numerous problems I encountered during my stay.
Please let me know how we can resolve this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.Ill be happy to talk to someone and explain in detail.
Thank you for your...
Read moreAs with others who gave the hotel 5 stars, who noted that they were puzzled by the many 1 star ratings, it made me wonder if we stayed in the same hotel? The only pattern that I noticed was that many of the 1 stars were by people who only had 1 review, that is not my case. I also spend 20+ days a year staying in New Jersey so I have some local perspective, but I am a fairly global traveller so can put things in perspective. I also have not been as active in recent years reviewing, but in this case I felt it was necessary.||* The check in experience was "exemplary" but not quite to the point of overkill. After check in, they soon sent me a text asking me if everything was fine, if i needed anything. I am a Titanium Bonvoy and have never had that level of checkin or follow through. |* The room was comparable to a Sheraton or Marriott, except the Toto bidet toilet, full disclosure I have one at home, was a nice Japanese touch. It was as well maintained as what I would expect and depending on who you ask? Superior to comps.|* It was happy hour, I am Japanese and figured that I would put the Japanese restaurant to the test, mine! It did not disappoint, in fact, it exceeded! The service, food and prices made me overindulge in food and drinks! Maki's are maki's, but the sashimi was perfect, the tempura was high quality by Japanese standards (you'll know if you have eaten oily American vs Japanese Tempura immediately) and I loved the fried "Aji". |* As a spoiled Marriott high level elite, I'm used to free breakfasts and told my wife that I was not willing to pay $17 for a buffet breakfast, or almost any amount for that matter... This was perhaps my only disappointment in the stay. I checked out the offerings and its was a typical 4 star offering. I passed out of principal. Certainly not just cereal and bread as one low rating person claimed, it was "normal" hot offerings, fruit etc... ||As noted at the beginning, I don't know where those bad reviewers stayed, but as I look at more longer stays in Jersey, this location will be at the top of my list. Bad experiences happen, but I can't...
