I was looking for a room at another chain hotel I normally stay at. When they were full (the other locations with available rooms were far too expensive) I looked online for a good hotel in the St Paul area. I never stayed at La Quinta before since I always thought they were kind of ghetto. I was wrong! When I booked my stay for my family, I was amazed at the beauty of the building! It is nestled in a quaint area of Woodbury surrounded by trees and lots of green vegetation. Upon entering the building, I noticed the modern look inside. It was clean, smelled fresh and is very open. The staff is friendly and attentive to your needs. I had a room on the top floor and the hallway is clean and modern with nice art and clean flooring. My room style was two queen bed. The door to my room is heavy and well built and the locks are sturdy and safe. To enter, you scan your card via NFC. The door unlocks quick and easy. Room numbers are easy to see.
The carpets in the room are clean. The framed art is positioned in a nice puzzle style that is fitting to the rest of the room. The bathroom is very nice with an oversized bathtub and a nice shower head. The flooring looks like stained wood but it is laminate. The flooring is not slippery since it is textured.
The beds are very nice. Soft, but firm enough to get into and out of bed. The pillows are nice but they give you three pillows instead of four. The blankets are nice and think but breathable. I was able to fall asleep quickly, and wake up refreshed after only 6 hours of sleep.
The A/C puts out ice cold air and it auto shuts off properly unlike some places where the thermostat doesn’t work. The furniture inside the room is modern.. There is a nice desk to have your laptop or tablet placed to do work or play. They have a nice 42 inch flat screen with about 50 channels of TV including HBO.
They give you free WiFi but remember to NOT visit bank sites or other sites with personal info. It is public WiFi with no password needed. Use a VPN if you have to log into your work or need to check your bank info etc. I recommend Avast VPN.
The free hot breakfast is very nice. It’s basically the same as Holiday Inn Express with the omelets, sausage, cereal, bagels and bread. Instead of the pancake machine, La Quinta has a waffle machine! You pour the batter yourself and it makes big Belgian style waffles that taste very nice and only takes 3 minutes to make. They also offer hard boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels with cream cheese, apples, oranges and bananas.
The amenities here are nice. There a nice business center with printing and faxing available. You also get access to a laundry room (for a fee) with multiple washers and dryers. If you forget your laundry items, they sell them. They also have a little store which sells drinks, goggles, batteries, headphones and some food and candy. My favorite is the workout room and indoor pool! I live in Arizona and we don’t have many indoor pools especially at hotels. The exercise room has your typical machines. Weightlifting, ellipticals, and others. The pool room is awesome! You have a kids pool which is about 8 inches deep and has a slide for the little ones. It also has a waterfall in the center. The other pool is 6-8 feet deep. No diving obviously! The jacuzzi is large and nice and hot.
In a nutshell, I will be staying here every time I visit family! You will...

Read moreFirst of all The staff is VERY rude!! In the less than 24 hours that I was there I had MULTIPLE rude encounters with the front desk staff. I booked a king bed suite with a pull out couch for my kids. When I tried to pull the couch out there was a sign saying the pull out bed is broke and to call the front desk for a roll away bed. Called the front desk and was told I had to come down and get the bed myself. One couldn’t be brought up to me. When I asked why they said they couldn’t leave the front desk and then HUNG UP ON ME!!! What’s the point of booking a suite that offers a queen pull out bed just to find out the pull out bed doesn’t work and now I don’t have enough space for my kids to sleep comfortably. The pool area does not have enough seating. We had to set our belongings on the wet ground because all 4 tables provided were being used. Over crowded pool area. There’s so much chlorine in the pool that my kids were coughing uncontrollably and their eyes burned. I’ve never had a hotel experience like the one I had at La Quinta Inn. Never will I ever go back!!! I wanted a refund but I didn’t dare communicate with the front desk staff based on how I was already treated. The only good thing about this place is the breakfast they offer. Please do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere. You will be disappointed with your stay...
