St. Paul Pediatric Dentistry — Local services in Woodbury

Poor! I scheduled an appointment for my daughter because she chipped her front tooth. We arived for the appointment and they stated we have a cleaning schedule. So I explained, no we are here to have my daughter tooth fixed before school starts next week. They then explain those appointments are only done in the morning and I would need to make another appointment for my daughter to have her tooth fix! What a waste of my time, I took off work and now have to take off another day, plus now my daughter will have to miss a day of school and attend school embarrassed for a week with a chipped front tooth! I'm so disappointed and upset!

Update: our rescheduled appointment was for today. My husband took off work this time, arrived to the appointment, a few minutes into the appointment I received a call from the office staff saying that our normal Dr Julie was out of town and another Dr will be working on my daughter's teeth. There was no communication to me at all, so yes I expressed my concerns. I wish someone would have gave me the common courtesy and communicated there would be a different Dr for the girls but I agree for them to continue with the procedure. About 5 mins later my husband called saying the Dr has refuse to fix my daughter tooth and said we should find another dentist. I'm sure any parent/person would like to be informed of a change in doctors staff. I will not be returning to this office. We have received very poor service and there has been a failure in communication. Now we have wasted time with taking two days off work , my daughter's have missed school, we have to find another dentist and her tooth is still not fix. This office should be ashamed of itself how...

I was fortunate to be with my granddaughter for her first two visits to the dentist. She’s 5 and late at getting in for her first dentist visit. She had some cavities, so I can share our experience with that trip also. We saw Olivia and Dr. Sylvia both visits. Olivia is very patient and thorough with explaining to the patient everything she is going to do and showing what she is using. Allowed her to hold “the toothbrush”, showed her the water, let her pick a movie to watch...they have screens above the children’s heads so they can watch a movie (with headphones) while their teeth are being cleaned and even while having cavities filled. Dr. Sylvia was gentle and thorough as well! There was a child (2/3 yrs old) throwing a tantrum a few spots down because he didn’t want to have his turn with the dentist but wanted to keep playing with toys. Dr. Sylvia and Olivia didn’t seem phased. They stayed focused on my granddaughter as though there was no noise at all. I was amazed and appreciative of their ability to stay focused on their patient. My granddaughter didn’t even seem to be phased by the commotion...maybe the headphones helped!? 2 cavities filled within a half hour (this includes check-in, set up, and actual filling). Dr. Sylvia and Olivia made sure to answer any questions we had before and after. We are able to sit on a bench nearby to observe. I cannot leave out the front desk. Ka was very kind to us both visits with getting our appointments scheduled, checking us in, and making sure we understood the estimated invoice.

My daughter loves Dr. Julie! When I say, “we are headed to the dentist tomorrow,” my daughter replies with excitement, “JULIE!” She explains things for her to understand and not make her anxious. This just so happens to be only the first few times of actually going to the dentist and thanks to Dr. Julie and her team, Madison loves it. Keeping in mind, my daughter is 2 years old and they treat her like royalty the moment she walks in the door! Everyone knows her by first name. We barely have a wait, as we text staff from the parking lot when we have arrived. They let us know when we can come in which is usually right on the dot of appointment time if not before if you show up early! Madison and myself are escorted back to her room where her TV is usually on and set to age appropriate television/movie attached to the ceiling for easy viewing while they are in the dentists’ reclining chair. She is then reclined and can forget all her “troubles” and relax. My daughter forgets she is even at the dentist which allows ease when the doctor does come in so I can talk treatment plan with Dr. Julie. All staff are kind, courteous and understand the meaning of “we need to be quick about this” but not rush you when the moment does not feel right! Very clean offices (Woodbury, St. Paul and Oakdale) and hygiene are important to staff especially during and after pandemic, they take precautions and limit guests in their offices.
