My family and I (all adults) were looking for a hotel that was nice and located near family who live in Woodbury. There are a lot of hotels in the area; the Sheraton St Paul Woodbury was easily nicer than many of them but not overly expensive and only a 5-minute drive to family we were visiting.
Due to COVID restrictions some amenities (ie buffet breakfast, swimming pool) were still not available, but that was the case in almost every hotel we looked into (9 other hotels up to 20 mins away). They did offer a breakfast menu in their cafe and have a bar at one end of the cafe as well. The gym was open 24 hrs.
The hotel upgraded us to Club level, and we really liked it. The room was pretty, had 2 double beds and more little touches than other hotels we’ve stayed at - shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soaps as you’d usually find, but also mouthwash, shaving cream, and lotion, plus a few other items including a bathrobe and a magnifying mirror, which was much-appreciated. The room also had the regular small appliances you’d find - iron, blow dryer, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker etc. The fridge did not hold a lot, but was convenient anyway.
Because we were on Club level, we had access to a lounge area (across from the elevators) that had tables & chairs where you could work and/or eat, plus a couple of comfortable chairs in front of a small gas (?) fireplace used in winter. On the counter there were refrigerated bottles of water, cans of juice and other drinks, plus there were bins on the counter with fruit (apples, oranges), energy bars, and sometimes individually-wrapped muffins.
Housekeeping and other staff were so nice and efficient. They cleaned the room daily, so long as the “Do Not Disturb” sign was not on the door.
The only problem we had was the bathroom had 2 small doors (rather than 1 regular door) and one of them kept getting stuck. It was very loud when it finally shut/opened, which was not convenient especially in the middle of the night. We finally just kept it shut at night.
There are plenty of shopping areas in both directions leaving the hotel, as well as a Tavern just a short walk away.
We will most likely stay at the Sheraton St Paul Woodbury from now on when we visit our family in MN, as well as recommended it to other family who might...

They charge a $100 incidentals which they do not give back to you for 3 to 5 days saying that they don't have authority to do so but will do nothing to accommodate. That extra $100 was part of the budget the travel budget but the hotel is now illegally making interest on everyone's incidental $100 that they don't give back for 3 to 5 days. I never signed off on this or agreed to it and they rudely will not give it back. The manager just said to me 'I am the manager, blah blah' and some other uneducated words, and will do nothing to fix the issue. We didn't see the 'manager' all weekend, which could explain why the hotel is so poorly run, but when we finally spoke she was so loud with me, and when I got loud back, THE MANAGER HUNG UP ON A CUSTOMER!! REMEMBER THAT, SHE REFUSED TO DO HER JOB. I CALLED BACK I WAS TOLD SHE WON'T SPEAK TO ME. SHES TAKING PERSONALLY, MY UPSET WITH POLICY. I MAY CALL CORPORATE ABOUT HER. The woman wasn't even at work at 9 am on a Monday after being absent all weekend and not available to make her hotel a good destination for travelers. Let's talk overpriced bad breakfast for $18, cold food with no flavor. Don't get the breakfast, it would be worth it if included, but it's not worth $5,let alone $18. The rooms were OK but the shampoos and conditioners were empty and no one to replace.. There's no exhaust fan in the bathroom and some of our room lights didn't work. But the staff wasn't really available for anything. They dissappear and wait for you to look for them. Lazy. There was no top sheet either, just a fitted and comforter, which seems unsanitary. They didn't even offer a shuttle to and from the airport as advertised, and the 'complimentary' coffee wasn't 24 hours. What kind of service is this? It's way too expensive for what you get. The manager is an awful human being and the operators are terrible because when you have a problem they go on the defensive instead of trying to fix the issue. I would say if you're staying in Minneapolis stay anywhere else, butthis Sheraton it's a...
Read moreStayed here as there was a block of rooms for a wedding we were attending. The outside of the hotel is pretty and the lobby and restaurant area was very nice. The room type we had reserved did not have refrigerators as stated in another review but I mentioned it and they said they can bring one up and asked if I wanted a microwave too and I accepted. The delivery of them was quick and the lady that brought them took the cart back down that I had unloaded stuff from the car. The overall room appearance was lackluster for a 3 star hotel, the fridge had a strong smell of cleaning product as did the room. I kept the windows open most of the stay (2 days). The carpet also felt sticky especially by the bed. The blankets were near impossible to keep straight on the bed so I took them off and left in a chair. Despite everything in the room perhaps the greatest point of contention was I had two separate reservations (recommended by the lady I spoke with when I called to reserve in case we didn't make it up the day before the wedding) and around 1:00 pm there was a knock at my door for housekeeping. I quietly answered the door as I had just gotten a cantankerous toddler down for nap and I said no thanks and the guy said it was my last day. I told him no I had two reservations, which I mentioned when I checked in but the guy that checked me in only mentioned I might have to pay again not check in again...In a rush to get ready and get to a 2pm and wedding I woke my toddler up to hurry and get ready to then go down to the front desk to straighten things out. I had to check in and get a new key. I was asked if I wanted to stay in the same room (I'm dressed for a wedding on my way out) and I said yes. The computer then froze and the lady checking me in again was waiting for someone else to remove some sort of "block" to let her finish the check in. I had to get new keys as the old ones were deactivated. All of this and I literally made it to the wedding just before the wedding party walked in. Bad experience and a room that was sufficient at best. I travel rather frequently for work and cannot...
