Approximately 3 weeks ago my partner and I celebrated my birthday. We placed an order for take out with our total costing nearly $100. We live in a different city so we had to drive there to pick up our order. We placed our order roughly 2:00 pm and was told our order would be available by 2:40 pm. We parked in a Curbside Parking spot and followed the instructions. We waited and saw multiple people getting out of their cars parked next to us. After a good 6 minutes of waiting and receiving no responses following the curbside instructions we were instructed to do, we eventually went inside. One of the hostess appeared confused, made multiple attempts going back and forth from the front to the back kitchen. She asked us if we placed our order for a different location which we had to show her our order of confirmation. We saw that we weren't the only people frustrated, ordered takeouts, and had to go inside to request for our orders. At least 3 other people were waiting for their orders. We were told our orders are not even being made yet and for us to wait much longer. The hostess seemed annoyed after realizing she had made mistakes after being told by another employee. Something about not paying attention to the computer system that curbside pick orders are ready for picked up, and that she was supposed to go in the back kitchen and tell the chefs they're behind and customers are waiting on their foods all of which the hostess didn't do. She also had to ask my partner again what his name was after she was already told the first time. We had to wait for our foods still while people who had showed up after us for their pickup orders started to receive theirs before us. By the time we finally received our food which was another 30 minutes added to 2:40 pm, our hostess said "sorry for the wait, you can call to complain if you're not happy". There was no explanation as to why our order was not being made and why we never had our order brought to us in curbside pick up. We never received our notification doing the curbside pickup instructions. Glad we went inside otherwise we would've been waiting after 30 mins only to come inside and told our foods are not even made. We called on our drive back home, spoke with the store manager, Michelle who informed us for the inconvenience we experienced, she would send us a gift card. It's been 3 weeks later and I still don't see a gift card. Very unprofessional hostesses at the front and we were lied to at the end. Our foods were cold by the time we got home. Don't have any high hopes for this place. I have already told many people my experience and no one I spoke to will visit this...
Read moreWe have been to this location (Woodbury) before, and it has been fine. However, the experience for our party of four today was really bad from the check-in to the payment of our bill. Despite the fact that there were many open tables, we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Our drink order was taken right away, but we had to wait 30 minutes for all of the drinks to be served, an only one of the drinks required assembly at the bar. In the course of the drink service, we had a server change. The new server told us that she did not know where the other server was and that she would now take responsibility for our table. We put our food order in with her and proceeded to wait about 40 minutes for our food. When the food arrived, some of it was cold.
As we were seated, the group at the table next to us was just finishing up. The lingered a bit, which was fine as the restaurant was not busy. However, once they left it took well over an hour for the table to be cleared and readied for the next customers. I counted at least 10 visits by various staff to clean that table, and one of the staff appeared to have table clearing/cleaning as his main job. I kept waiting for a manager to intervene, but it never happened.
When we were checking out, our waitress thanked us for our patience and explained that there was a large table. We saw the large table. That did not explain the poor experience/service given to us. It was pure mismanagement. To cap things off, as I was paying the bill with my credit card, the only tip options (other than no tip) was 20%, 22% and 25%. I could have put in a custom tip if I had wanted to spend the time to figure that out, but I did not.
Upon our return home, I went out to to the restaurant web site to try to give them feedback directly. I spent several minutes completing their form and as I clicked on "Submit" I received message back telling me that the form did not work and that I should contact the owner.
We had planned to take a party of eight to this location sometime in the next month, but we have decided not to risk another poor experience like this one. Too bad. This used to be a...
Read moreFirst time. I think we went when it was very busy. For Christmas decor, they wrapped the paintings on the wall up, which was hilarious. Half of the restaurant is decorated like a nice wood lodge and the other half is decorated like a Masonic Temple. Very bizarre. I would vote it as the most rectangular restaurant I've ever been. No idea where the restrooms were; too afraid to ask. Food was bland. Their claim to fame is all the Build Your Own foods, but if I wanted to build food, I'd suffer through cooking. So, onto the premade menu! The Waffle Fries were not hot upon arrival. They definitely sat for a bit. I was trying to take into account that we had already waited 20 minutes for a table [no reservation] but either the Waffle Fries were made in bulk and sat or just sat. Also, not salted or seasoned enough to taste anything. The Seasoned Sour Cream was the saving grace. I ordered the Fish n Chips and the fish was hot! But not salted and not seasoned, so just kind of hot, wet, fish. It was crunchy, not soggy. It was described as a generous portion, but was rather average and disappointing for 17$. The hot fish sat on top of not-so-hot, unseasoned waffle fries... I'm not going to eat another waffle fry until 2023. For some reason, I was drawn to the coleslaw. It was light and a little sweet and very crunchy. I literally don't know why I liked it, because I've never eaten coleslaw that I enjoyed, so honestly, 1 star for that. I got a drink called a Peach Smash [or something] and my friend got a Cherry Ginger [something] and those were 10.50$ and 9.50$ respectively. Prices aren't on the cocktail menu, so but at your own discretion. Another saving grace and the absolute highlight of the meal was the Key Lime Pie. We ordered them to take out and it took about 10 minutes to get today packed up. The dining room had halved in customers, and we can't figure out why it took so long. I would probably try it again if somebody asked me, but I'm not necessarily jumping for joy at the prospect right now. Maybe they're understaffed. But I'm only giving 4 stars because nothing I ate...
