The location of the hotel was exactly what we needed. This was our 2nd stay at this location. The 1st stay was ok. No issues except getting sick and a weird smell in the room. The 2nd stay, this stay, well here goes. We booked a larger room so we would have a couch to sit on to watch TV instead of always sitting in bed and a coffee table to maybe bring a pizza back to the room. Online the room we booked said it had a "SEPARATE SITTING AREA" with a couch, a coffee table, and a picture of French doors opening up into this area with a tv on the wall across from the couch and a TV on the wall across from the bed (again separate sitting area). Upon arrival, it was a regular size room with a couch and coffee table right next to the bed, not a "separate area" and only the one TV across from the bed as you wouldn't need 2 tv's that close together. It's a little misleading, to say the least. Then, the next day the tv kept going in and out like bad internet on a streaming TV, to the point the person in the movie would say 2 words then it would freeze and scramble the screen. We contacted the front desk, and he came up and took a video of how bad it was and said, "It was the service provider, and it was happening in other rooms as well." Right after he left, the screen went black, and all we had was sound here and there, so we decided to go to bed early. The next day, the tv started ok, but then it progressively got worse again to the point of the black screen and at 6pm it was toooo early to call it a night so we ended up playing games on our phones. FUN!!! NOT!!! I called the front desk again, and he said the service provider would be out in the a.m. to fix the problem, and I advised him that it would be too late to help us as we were checking out very early a.m. Upon checking out, I spoke with the lady at the front desk and went over the tv issue with her, she recommended I leave a note with my email for the owner asking for a discount on my bill. When I called back to discuss this issue, they gave me a $50 refund on my bill, really $50 for no tv for 3-4 days... They could've done better than $50. Also, it appears, as others have said, there are people that LIVE there as there are young, school kids that get on a bus there every morning and the moms seem to know each other, one mom came down with 4 kids that were coughing up a storm and throwing food, then another mom came down with 3 little ones and she was hacking away, and they all sat together and went out for the bus. Not sure if Section 8 pays them money as guaranteed incase they don't fill up, who knows, but it looks low class and puts out a "cheap motel vibe." There is a "SMELL" that I can't describe but it is a distinct smell that gets in your nose and then you feel like it is on your clothes and everyone is smelling it thinking you STINK, even after plenty of perfume. It's maybe a musty, damp smell. We just thought it was "that" room the 1st time but now after this 2nd stay with same smell, it's not the room. The 1st time we stayed there we all got sick a few days before leaving (we were there for 8 days) and I always mask up on the plane, and now the second time we just got sick the day we came home, both times with cough, sinus, etc. I'm not saying getting sick while traveling isn't going to happen but maybe a little FRESH smelling disinfectant sprayed in the room would go a LONG way. SORRY Holiday Inn Express, we...
Read moreI stayed for 2 nights at 'The Holiday Inn' to attend a nearby concert and explore the area. My first indication that something was wrong, was the check-in having me commit to pay both nights up front. This is deliberately done to prevent you from checking out after the first night when you figure the place out, and going to stay elsewhere. The check-in was hopeless and unable to operate their system. Definitely could not cope with more than 1 check-in at a time.
We left early on the first day and returned late. When we returned, the room had not been cleaned or made up. On our way out that day, there were crazy people running up and down the corridors and what looked like drug deals or other sketchy activity going down in the parking lot.
We had such a sense of insecurity in this 'Homeless Inn' that we made sure we did not leave any valuables behind in the room. There were no safes in the room in this insecure/unsafe location.
The breakfast is watched over very closely to make sure that the guests do not take extra. If anything runs out, which it does, you have to chase and demand from the kitchen staff to replenish it.
When I called to discuss the hotel misrepresentation issue with IHG, it took a while for them to begrudgingly admit that half the rooms were being used to house homeless and illegals. My request to discuss this with a senior manager and not the customer support staff was continually denied.
My request for a refund was refused and they offered me 10,000 points in compensation. Why would I want to accumulate any further IHG points for a complementary stay in 'The Homeless Inn'.
Their support staff asked if I had taken up my concerns with the desk staff. This was a stupid response as I pointed out that I was not about to complain to the desk staff with the crackheads and others all hanging around the lobby. The management are complicit as well in ensuring that if you are a paying guest, you do not cut short your paid stay.
This review is not about homeless people and their unfortunate state. It is about IHG group and 'The Homeless Inn' exploiting paying guests at full price for an experience that is not delivered. The least that they can do is inform people on their website, that the property is being used to house homeless so that the paying guest can make an informed choice. Anything less is deliberately and intentionally misleading, misrepresentational, dishonest...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at this hotel on a Saturday in September, 2021. When we arrived at 3pm to check-in, we were told we had to wait ten minutes while they finished cleaning our room, which was fine. When we got up to our room, the tile floors were still wet, and as we walked across them, we noticed we both left muddy footprints, although neither of us had any dirt on our shoes. I took a white washcloth off the bathroom rack to wipe the entire bathroom floor, and when I picked it up, the washcloth was completely brown. Housekeeping clearly had not changed their mop water between any of their rooms, and had instead used filthy water to "clean" the tile floors. We also had no soap left in our bathroom. We shared our findings with the front desk, and they asked what we wanted done, so we asked for our floors to be recleaned and soap to be provided. When we returned to the hotel later, it was clear someone had come to our room, but the floors still left brown residue on a washcloth when wiped, and there still was no soap provided. We later found hairs on several of our bath towels when we went to use them and hair in the tub, so we did not use the shower. Needless to say, we felt skeptical that the rest of the room was any cleaner than what we'd already found. Had we not absolutely needed to stay in the area overnight, we would have left and stayed elsewhere if we could have. Cleanliness is obviously always an important factor when staying in a hotel, but especially today during the pandemic, it is even more critical. Literature was left in the hotel room about how the hotel prioritizes cleanliness, but that was not evident in what we found. When we again shared our experience at the front desk the following day, this time to the manager on duty, an apology was offered, but that was it. Based on this experience, I would not stay at this or any other Holiday Inn...
