This is going to be mixed reviews but I want to note that this won't hinder my chances of ever coming back here. I would definitely plan to come back here again. But I did notice the next time I'm in town. This place is already sold out.
Check in went well. I requested an early check-in and it was fine. However, when I was in my room after being unpacked, completely wiped out and exhausted... I hear someone at my door trying to come in. Luckily I had the bolt on. Some woman was issued keys to my room. When I heard her attempting to come in, I ran over to my door, slammed it shut and asked her what her problem was. I was shaking up a little bit. She apologized and said she was issued the keys and assigned this room. I told her I was already in the room. She assured me that it wasn't a problem and apologized again. I calmed down and I told her no worries. She left. I called the front desk. Apparently they weren't aware that this woman was issued the same keys to the same room as me. They apologized. That very night I was out. When I returned even more exhausted, I come to my room only to find that my hotel keys did not work. That was annoying. I had to take the elevator go back downstairs to the front desk. They apologized (for another minor blip) and issued me new keys. As far as the room is concerned, I had to make some notes. The water pressure in the bathroom was not that great but it was okay. When I did check into my room, the room was very warm. The temperature read 76 degrees. My daughter and I are polar bears so I lowered the air conditioner to 65. Throughout our two day, it only went down to 75. And the room remained a bit warm. I didn't want to call the front desk to complain because I was already settled in, beyond exhausted, and I didn't want to have people to come into my room and try to figure things out. The oatmeal soap that they provide in the bathroom, in my opinion smelled horrible. Luckily, I traveled with my own soap. The bathroom sink did not drain properly at all. It seemed like it took forever to drain. You can see the picture provided. This was anytime I used it. They do have beautiful bathrobes that they provide. One was located in the hallway closet, and there was another one behind the bathroom door on a hook. They were plush they were beautiful, however they didn't fit me comfortably. So I put it back on the hanger and hung it up. The water bottles added an ice touch. And they were free. The snacks they provide are not free. They're priced at $7.50 and upwards. Good thing I brought my own stuff. The volume on the TV was very low. No matter how much I raised it. It just wasn't loud at all. That's really not a big deal. The bedsheets and blanket were so fresh and so clean, it was easy for me to fall asleep in and lovely for me to wake up to. The phone in my room that was located on the desk, kept making these annoying long beeping sounds. At first, I thought it was the TV to which I have on video, but that ended up coming from the phone and I ended up unplugging the phone for the remainder of my visit. I addressed the situation upon checkout. Again, I didn't address it to the front desk because I don't want people in my room when I'm exhausted and I'm trying to rest. This hotel is in a perfect location. It is about six minutes away from DCU. It has a huge parking lot and they provide ample parking. There was construction, but I was pleased not to hear anything going on. It's a beautiful property. From the Lobby to the elevator to the hallways. I really loved the bay windows in my room. I also loved how the refrigerator was concealed in a cabinet under the coffee machine. I didn't use the coffee there as I ordered from Starbucks. That's what I do when I travel. The hotel was so nice and so quiet. As I said earlier, I would definitely come here and stay again but the next time I'm in this part of town, it's completely booked and that saddens me. As far as the restaurant in the lobby is concerned, the drinks were amazing. The food was awesome. I had the best shrimp scampi!!...
Read moreSo my wife and kids were booked here by a travel agent. We had high expectations based on the reviews and the proudly displayed 4 Star plaques all over the lobby. My wife and one daughter checked in before me and the other daughter and she asked the receptionist about our dogs...two dachshunds and a labrador. The receptionist either didn't hear her or understand. They took the two dogs to the room, no issue. I showed up an hour later with the very calm big dog and asked where the elevator was. I received a blank stare and then you have a dog? Which I replied to yes....we are in room 509, my wife already checked in. Answer, but we didn't know you had a dog....to which I replied, yes, that's why we booked this hotel as you are pet friendly.... So the wife came back down, formally registered all 3 dogs and we were told the fee would be $60 a night for pets. Fine, no issue, we are on a corporate relocation. The next day, a different woman tells us it's going to be $60 per dog...and only two dogs are allowed... Let's get our story right. So we still aren't sure if we are getting charged $180 tonight.
Service - dinner was fantastic, great food and service at Cerus. Breakfast? Not the same at the same place! Continental included and horrible service and lack of food out at 7:30am. First we couldn't find a clean table, then we had to ask for multiple things, wait for coffee, ask for cream, take silverware from other tables, take sugar from another table, ask for bagels to replenished. Get your breakfast at LaQuinta and you'll be happier.
If you get a room in the tower, there's only one horribly slow elevator. There's only ice on the third floor. The room keys are constantly deactivated. We've been to the desk no less than 5 times to get keys fixed. Great after going to your room on the slow elevator only to have to go back downstairs and then come back up. The staff also uses the very slow elevator as there isn't a separate staff elevator. Great getting on the elevator with bags of trash. Free wireless is painfully slow, just pay for the upgrade.
I have more things such as calling to get extra sheets, but I'm sure everyone now gets the point. How this place has achieved multiple years (including 2016) 4 Star ratings is a mystery to us. Looks like we need to extend for a third night, but we'll be packing up and going somewhere else. Marriott here...
Read moreTo celebrate mine and my girlfriends 5 year anniversary I decided to take her to go see Daniel Tosh at the Hanover Theatre in Worcester. I would first off like to say that I am an employee of a AAA 4 diamond in Southeastern Wisconsin and seeing that this hotel was one also I was quick to book a room, although I was very disappointed as I had high expectations, for what I know what this type of hotel is supposed to offer, which it did not. We drove nearly 16 hours to come to the hotel and I called a week ahead to get blocked into a junior suite which I booked so I was guaranteed to have one. When I got to the room it was in the back of the hotel with views of the roof and all their A/C units. At check in I did not get a welcome, happy anniversary, things we could do or simply any inquiries on what we had planned for our stay. The first morning we had our do not disturb option chosen so I went down to the front desk to ask to have my room serviced the lady at the desk told me "oh that's one of our housekeepers down the hall go tell her you want it serviced" to which I had to go interrupt her having a conversation with one of the managers. I simply do not see how this hotel is rated as a 4 diamond hotel as they are supposed to have a high degree of hospitality, service, and attention to detail to...
