This is a nice hotel in Tashkent.
The rooms are adequate & furnished reasonable with a kettle & hot drinks making facility.
Breakfast is excellent with lots of variety. If you are in a hurry to check out, they offer a packed breakfast box to take with you.
We had a slightly bad experience while checking in. The person at the reception desk, Jamshed, was adamant that we needed to pay for an early check in though we requested this by email. (We were told that they will allow if there were any rooms available by a reply by email). As we were tired to argue and reason out with him, we ended up paying $20 as early check in fee (penalty). Jamshed was the only one who lacked good customer service skills. I have a feeling that I was scammed by him as there were rooms available at the time we checked in.
Muzaffar on the other hand was very helpful at the front desk with excellent customer relationship and a pleasant & cheerful demeanour. Abdullah was also helpful.
The free WiFI is quite good and fast.
They allowed us to keep our suitcases while we checked out after two nights to visit Samarkand and Bukhara and return back for one more night to the same hotel to stay and pick up our left luggage before taking the return flight back home.
The hotel is close to the Airport. If you buy an Uzbek tourist SIM card in the airport, you can download & use the Yandex app to get the taxis which are very reasonable to get around. Will cost you approx 30000 to 40000 Som which is about a max of £2.50 for a ride with...

I had high expectations because of the high ratings, but I was very dissatisfied, perhaps because our timing was bad.
When I arrived, I had booked a twin room and was told, ``If your room is a double, please call extension 100.'' When I opened the door, it was a double bed.
I called them on the extension line and went back to the reception, where they told me they would be making twin beds and sent me back to the same room with the staff.
All I could do was watch the staff make the beds, and since there was a balcony, when I tried to leave, the door wouldn't open. When I asked the staff who was making the beds, they said, "I don't know." Then, when I tried to wash my hands, there was no water. When I told the staff, they replied, "I don't know." When I told the reception on the extension line, they asked me to wait for about an hour because the city's water supply was cut off. That's what I said.
When I confirmed that I wanted to use the spa within that hour, I was told that I needed to make a reservation until the next day, so I reluctantly went to the poolside, where water was coming out of the faucet, so I brushed my teeth there and went to bed.
The water was running the next morning, but I was very disappointed as I had checked in on my first day in Uzbekistan in a tired state.
By the way, the next day I ordered a mojito at the pool bar, but it wasn't delicious.

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Old Tashkent Hotel and cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment I arrived, the warm welcome and attention to detail were evident in every aspect of my experience. The lobby’s elegant décor and the comfortable, impeccably clean rooms immediately set the tone for a memorable stay.
The hotel’s amenities are outstanding—fast, reliable Wi-Fi, a delicious breakfast buffet with both international and local specialties, and a beautifully maintained courtyard perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Housekeeping staff were courteous and thorough, making sure my room was spotless every morning.
Above all, I want to extend special thanks to Administrator Abdulmalik, whose professionalism and genuine care made all the difference. When I had a last-minute request for a city tour, Abdulmalik went out of his way to arrange a knowledgeable guide and even secured a private car at short notice. His friendly demeanor and expert local tips—about where to find the best plov and hidden caravanserais—turned my trip into an unforgettable adventure.
If you’re planning a visit to Tashkent, do yourself a favor and book at Old Tashkent Hotel. With top-notch facilities and staff like Abdulmalik, you’re guaranteed hospitality that feels like home. I can’t...
