I stayed at the Krokus Plaza Tashkent Hotel in Uzbekistan from July 31st to August 7th, 2023 for a training course organized by the IIHF. Overall, the hotel provided a pleasant experience during my one-week stay. First and foremost, the cleanliness and tidiness of the hotel were well-maintained, although I changed my room twice because of problems with the ventilation system and bathroom hose problem. The rooms were adequately spacious and had decent amenities. The hotel also had a small pool, which was a useful spot for relaxation, and we had memorable nights there. The hotel's food was average to good and of satisfactory quality. The location of the hotel was not particularly interesting, but with a short walk of at least twenty minutes, one could reach sightseeing and recreational areas, although Tashkent itself doesn't have many tourist attractions. The hotel staff, especially during morning shifts, spoke English well and were helpful in many situations such as obtaining a SIM card and arranging taxis. The people of Uzbekistan are known for their hospitality. If I were to visit Tashkent again, this hotel would likely be among my top choices.

This hotel is very very clean. The owner makes sure everywhere is spotless. The boss told me that they may have overbooked but to my.pleasant surprise, they twice upgraded to a suite. The boss is very dedicated to the hotel services and made sure the guests are comfortable. Krokus is about 10-15 minutes away from Tashkent Airport. It is in a quiet neighborhood. While it is not that near tourist attractions, taxi is very reasonable here (USD 1-2) and front desk would help to hail a cab anytime. There is a swimming pool to soak and swim after a long day of tour too. The staffs are very nice. The young staff at the breakfast room is friendly and helpful. Overall, I recommend this hotel and am pleasantly surprised by the service standard they upheld.

Very poor breakfast. If you want an express coffee, they tell you to make a soluble coffee and hot in the microwave. Everything is cold, there is only one microwave and you have to wait a long time to heat everything. After protesting, the coffee machine works. 44 minutes to have coffee with a cookie. Next day, the milk runs out during breakfast. Impossible to have breakfast decently. Who runs this hotel? Is there someone there?

Let me start that we arrived at 13:00 and were told we are not allowed to check in before 14:00 unless we pay half of the daily stay price. Oh well, as tired as we were after 11 hr flight we asked if we can sit and wait in the common area and the receptionist did not allowed that due to "important meeting going on there". Furthermore, as we stood there the lights went off and the darkness covered entire hotel. No electricity while 100F outside. We were told it would be restored shortly and now we can check in earlier. I had a bad feeling about the whole thing already and decided to wait. Two hours later still no electricity. We decided to look for another hotel and kindly enquired about cancellation and refund. The front desk lady contact the manager and replied "its a NO". She also stated its your choice to wait and hopefully we will get the power restored today. LOL. It was a really hard day for us. We reserved a different hotel which was wonderful. The expedia service were not helpful as well. Thank God I was able to successfully dispute the charges with my credit card upon returning home. Not a good experience...
