Very rarely do I leave bad reviews but this place failed at every point of contact. At check in they couldn’t find my reservation even though I had confirmation. Next the ‘simple’ Wi-Fi password (room number and surname) didn’t work in any combination. Had to get the desk staff to enter manually and still none the wiser what the password was (am guessing they spelt my name incorrectly). The rooms are quite dated with a shower attachment over the bath with an old style shower curtain. A breakfast menu was on the table but a sever lack of attending staff to take your order so I ended up having cereal, coffee and a croissant. Later in the morning I decided I would go and have a coffee in the lobby. I sat there for 30 minutes with lots of staff walking past but not one stopped to take my order. So I left and sought out the pool side. Again I sat there for another 30 minutes without being served despite staff servicing a couple who sat down after me. I went back to my room but couldn’t get in so I went down to the lobby to reactivate my card. There were a total of 6 members of staff behind the counter. Only one was occupied and yet I had to wait until he had finished on the phone before he alone attended to me. At dinner time I decided to eat at the hotel and went into the cafe/bar which was empty. I was handed a tablet and duly ordered my food. Two minutes later (despite the room still empty) I was asked to move as the table I was sitting at had bees reserved but they had forgotten to mark the table as reserved. I therefore cancelled my order and walked out to find a restaurant locally. I can forgive one or may be two oversights but the management seriously needs to sort their staff and procedures out. This for me was a business trip and next time I will be...
Read moreWe had a fabulous time at the Radisson in Tashkent. We stayed at this hotel twice during our trip to Uzbekistan, before and after joining a group tour. On the first occasion, we were able to upgrade to an executive suite which was wonderful - we had a separate living room and lots of space. The second time, we were in a business class room which was also great and spacious. The beds in both rooms were comfortable (the most comfortable we experienced across many hotels in Uzbekistan) and the bathrooms were perfect. We enjoyed room service meals which were great, and arrived quickly with warm delicious food. Breakfast in the hotel is good with a wide range of options.
The staff are the highlight - especially at reception and breakfast. I think the concierge was called Islambek who checked us in when we arrived for our first visit, very early in the morning after a long flight. He was so cheerful and helpful that we immediate felt at home. Azizbek helped us check out and was also very thoughtful. Everyone we encountered at reception was helpful - I just can't remember all their names!
The other hotel facilities such as the gym and the pool are more than adequate. Everywhere was spotless clean and well decorated - our rooms seemed to be newly renovated.
All in all, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Tashkent. It is very well managed and the...
Read moreThe Radisson Blu in Tashkent is what you expect from the brand: a clean, modern, business-oriented hotel.||SERVICE: I didn't encounter bad service anywhere in Uzbekistan. Front desk staff was helpful. I was recognized as having status and upgraded a room class both stays. My status benefits were also honored, a welcome amenity (water and fresh and dried fruit) was offered and that all was appreciated.||ROOM: The rooms are spacious and cleanly designed. They have an upscale chain-hotel feel and were in good repair.||FOOD: Breakfast was in a restaurant downstairs, with a large buffet of local, Russian and continental options including quite good pastries, and the option of eggs to order.||WIFI: No issues||CREDIT CARDS: Payment by card can be an issue in Uzbekistan. Places say that they accept cards, but foreign cards get denied. This was not the case here; I was able to pay with a foreign card without issue.||LOCATION AND SIGHTS: Tashkent isn't really a tourist city, so it's hard to talk about proximity. The hotel is about a five minute walk from the Bodomzor metro station - the Tashkent Metro is interesting enough that you should ride it...
