This is the worst place we have stayed in during our 5 city tour through Vietnam. We paid for a deluxe room and while there's lots of marble and floor to ceiling windows it's the details that make it a place I would never recommend or stay at again. From the disinterested staff at check-in to the lowest exchange rate by far we have been offered, to the laundry being priced by item at outrageous amounts instead of by kg. It just keeps getting worse. The room felt grimy and there was layers of dust on the end of our tub and in all the corners. The bathroom ceiling had black oily fingerprints all around an access cover and the grout between the tiles was black, dirty and really gross. The mattress was old, hard and it was like sleeping directly on springs. Instead of a nightstand there was a small fridge next to the bed that was so noisy we had to unplug it before we went to sleep. The fridge had 4 bottles of water inside. At check-in they told us everything that wasn't in the minibar was free. We couldn't find a minibar like we found in other hotels we stayed at which offered snacks and alcohol for a fee and the only thing we found outside of the fridge was a kettle and a couple of packs of instant coffee. All other hotels in Vietnam offered lots of free water, welcome drinks, fruit platters etc. At 3am the neighboring room people came in and slammed the doors and kept us awake for at least an hour because the walls were so thin. At 6:30 am when breakfast was supposed to start the machine that dispensed coffee served cold coffee and it took at least 15 minutes for it to warm up. They didn't even brew fresh coffee, they just reheated old coffee. I don't usually waste my time criticizing a place but there was really nothing good to say about this place at all. Unfortunately I have to spend another night there before and leave Vietnam but I don't have the energy to complain because there's too many issues. Oh, the hot tub advertised on the listing is actually a bathtub in the room. When I tried to have s hot bath the last night there was no stopper in the tub. I called the front desk around 6pm and they said they would send someone up. Nobody ever came. Lack of anything at this place, especially respect for...
Read moreThis could have been 5 Stars...as we enjoyed the hotel. For the price, the stay was comfortable, room was nice and clean, and breakfast had options (although variety from day to day would be nice). Location is great, too.
We stayed for over a week and the problem was that by the end of our stay both myself and my girlfriend felt uncomfortable with the “over-friendliness” of the doorman. He became increasingly touchy and overly excited to see me (whereas he completely ignored my girlfriend to the point of not even greeting her and just coming up to me and touching me). We’ve traveled in Asia for over two years and understand cultural differences, but this was not that. At first it was not a big deal but by the end of our stay, and the increased need to put his hand on my shoulder, lower back and chest, was too much. I made this known in my demeanor and the way I handled any further interaction.
There’s a clear line between being friendly and invading one’s personal boundaries. I explained our dissatisfaction to the front desk upon our departure because this type of behavior shouldn’t be allowed by...
