Marina Bay Côn Đảo Hotel — Hotel in Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu Province

Very nice hotel that doesn’t deserve the bad reviews it gets. There are some shortcomings, but we are in Vietnam on an island, and given the challenges it poses, they do pretty well! First of all, the rooms: clean, modern, free beverages in the fridge, and very comfortable mattress. Bad point as the water is lukewarm at best. But it’s ok, we’re not in Siberia. The food at the restaurant is very good. Free breakfast buffet in the morning, and everything is tasty 😋. I mean the Pho (noodle soup with beef) is even good, and that’s according to my Vietnamese wife, who’s a pain!! We tried the restaurant in the afternoon: everything is very good. I mean really; congratulations to the chef. Downside : the service. Appart from the morning buffet, there’s usually only one staff to cover the restaurant, and the terrace. So, expect to stand up if you need something… but you’ll get it with a charming smile, so, there’s that. The swimming pool is more like a giant bathtub, but it’s there to refresh and swim a little when it’s too hot, and the view is amazing. There are no restaurant on the 2nd floor, and no bar on the 7th, despite what’s advertised. Overall, a very nice place, just keep an open mind and remember : we are on an island, good staff is hard to come by, and you’re on holiday, so, relax and enjoy...

The Marina Bay Hotel staff were polite, friendly and actively supported us to have a comfortable stay. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly daily, with ample replenished water and tea for the room. The only area for further improvements would be around dietary needs, which would include the buffet breakfast having signs on it for what has and has not got meat in it as one of us was vegetarian. Unreasonable additional costs were charged above our internet reservation. If the hotel can't fulfill the requirements of the reservation it does not mean we need to pay double. Next to this unpleasant surprise the service was horrible. Absolutely no help or polite hospitality which made our stay next to the double payment unsatisfied. I recommend travellers to double check their reservation and to expect no hospitality to prevent...
