If you are expecting a five star resort for the cost of a hostel you will be disappointed. If you are expecting friendly staff, that you may have try to communicate with because you are in their country, and you don't judge the area as unsafe because there are not many street lights, I think you will appreciate a stay here.||I had a great experience with the staff. We arrived late at night, had little to no trouble getting into a room and we were more than satisfied with the room we were put in. The mattresses were stiff, but I did not find them any more so than other places in Vietnam. English communication was not as easily done, however, the staff was obviously trying to be very helpful in communicating with us. We utilized Google Translate and had no issue getting information for the stay. Also, I am in Vietnam, so I would expect that it is partially on me to try to communicate in Vietnamese. ||The hotel is in a back alley entrance with not many lights around. I would not call it dangerous. I walked around later at night and was able to find a family restaurant nearby as directed by the staff, as well as there were locals in a nearby square doing what looked like a communal dance class. The next morning the same square was filled with an organized volleyball match. It hardly seemed like a spot that was sketchy, more just dark. The area is not busy late at night as it is not surrounded by residential housing and it is about 2 km from the airport. ||The breakfast was a bit of fusion cuisine between local foods and western food. You could eat your fill of either, and the location is the top floor of the hotel giving it a nice view of the surrounding area. Again, a quick glance from that vantage point puts the alley entrance as a scary area into a different perspective. ||Lastly and most importantly, we had a special request with some luggage difficulty we had in our travels. It was a ridiculous thing for us to request from the staff and they went above and beyond to help us out. I would have no issue staying here again. Also, if there was a problem with the stay, I think I would have no problem sorting it out appropriately with the staff that...
Read moreOur entire experience with the hotel was pathetic. Starting from the location of the hotel, even though the hotel is very close to the Hanoi airport, it is located in a very dark alley which appears to be very unsafe and scary at night. The surrounding area also seems to be very shady. The hotel room was quite small - smaller than how it appears in the photograph. The mattress was as hard as a rock and throughout the night we kept tossing and turning. I read somewhere that hard mattress are a common practice in Vietnam, but they are really not - we stayed in 3 other hotels in Vietnam and all of them had comfortable mattresses. We did not have breakfast at the hotel (even though our booking included it) as we had such a pathetic experience that we just wanted to check out and get out of the hotel as early as possible. I would suggest that people traveling to Hanoi and looking for a place around the airport should avoid it. Even though the price looks reasonable, it is really not worth losing your peace of mind and a night's...
Read moreWe arrived 01:30AM and the airport pickup never arrived. That's ok because misunderstandings do happen but when we got to the hotel, the receptionist could not speak or understand one word of English. We manage to check in using body language, missing out on all standard information usually given at check-in. Then comes the nasties part. The room we got looked like it had not been cleaned after the previous guest. It smelled like sewage, pee on the toilet seat, garbage under the chairs, dirty sink and shower and mirror, stains on the bedsheets (which looked like it just had been re-made after the last guest without changing it). We manage to change room but this as well where not cleaned well. The hotel looks nice and have the opportunity to become great but the overall cleanliness was horrible. Btw this is one of my first reviews and I am typing this at 02:32 AM. Have spent a lot of nights at hotels around the world but this is the first time I have actually...
