We booked this hotel for 3 nights. On arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had ridden bikes from Hanoi and they showed us to our room so that we could shower and change before checking in. We wanted to do a boat trip around the bay and so booked this with the hotel owner because he offered us a very good price as we were staying in his hotel - it was cheaper than I had seen on the Internet. ||Our room was large and clean and nicely furnished. The ensuite is a huge wet room. The beds are very firm but I think this is common in Vietnam because it was the same in the other places we have stayed. The room was well equipped with air con as well as a ceiling fan, a wardrobe, a desk and table and chairs. It also had a fridge with drinks in, which were priced the same as drinks in cafes. There are big double doors opening onto a balcony which overlooks the bay. Unfortunately there is a lot of building work going on outside but this didn't really impact on our stay and it was quiet at night.||This is a very reasonably priced hotel and if you travel up the coast you will see the real Halong away from the tourist trap. There are little bays with little boats, floating restaurants and floating villages. We really enjoyed our stay here and found that the staff went out of their way to help us. If you want more from a hotel then you will obviously have...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here to see Halong Bay. On first impressions the room was clean and seemed ok. But the towels were actually the size of hand towels. They were dirty and smelt everyday and on one day the cleaner hung them back after being on the floor. We stayed three nights as they asked for payment up front and wouldn't refund us.The beds were rock hard, they gave us blankets instead of proper sheets and duvets which would be ok but they smelt of smoke, the floors were dirty, the shower was cold with no hot water, we had to send our laundry back twice then gave up as it was still either damp or still smelt! We now have to wash it all again despite paying at least twice as much as usual as it all smells terrible! We got woken up every morning by locals just shouting in the stairwell for the sake of shouting! They tried to sell us a tour for $35 then dropped it to $15 so they were just trying...
