Main Summary: Beware of mold smell!
I am usually hesitant about writing a negative review, but this 4 star hotel deserves this. I am writing this after our checkin and will update if I feel differently by checkout.
We arrived at 6 am of our booking but were willing to pay a reasonable rate for an early check in. The official checkin time was 2 pm and they qouted 50% of one night rate for 9 am check in. Declined because we valued 5 extra hours were worth way less than the 50% room rate, but later they quoted again for 30%. Declined again and we are somewhat pissed off because I never saw a 4 star luxury hotel doing an early checkin game with customers; if hotels have a room, it is ready to go for customers at 9 am or later. We are not playing a poker game in Las Vegas.
Afterall, I returned to the hotel and checked in at 2pm, which was fine. The big problem now began. The room we were assigned to smelled like full of mold.
Yes. The hotel room smells mold.
Asked for an upgrade with a balcony because I thought I could fresh-up the mold smell much easier with the full balcony opened, of course, myself paying the difference in the rates. Front desk gave me a balcony room but somehow was pissed and so was the bell boy. Maybe because they offered me at no additional charge (approx. 5usd)?
However, even the balcony room was the worst among what they had with a balcony (no bathtub as in the photos and bad view). Again, as for the one who was willing to pay the differentials to stay a night in a good room with balcony and a tub, it was a bit of dissatisfaction.
Not over yet. The ridiculous tiny shower room in the room was equipped with granite floor and amenities in cerimic casing (as in the photo). One mistaken swing of my arm broke the ceramic amenity into pieces, leaving cuts on my foot. How stupid is it to put fragile things in the shower room? What is wrong with them?
Back to the mold: This hotel only cares about how its exterior looks. So it keeps balcony lights turned on all night (as in the photo). We requested turning off my room's balcony light but it was ignored completely. Because I could not open the balcony, this room got filled with mold smell. If you know what mold smell are like, you won't miss it. We are 100% confident that this smell in my current hotel room is mold smell. Finally, we had to pull the blackout curtains to avoid the too-bright balcony light. Hated it because I wanted the natural night light during the sleep.
Too many bad things to list here. My time is expensive but I wanted to do this because of the negative experiences I have had during my stay.
Minor but not trivial things: Hair dryer auto-shutoffs in 2mins. Only good for 2 mins drying. Girls with long hair cant dry fully.
Good thing is that we are checking out tomorrow. No more bad experience hopefully.
This hotel is full of ridiculous things. You should be beware of this hotel's...
Read moreStayed here during full occupancy. Seemed to be to difficult for the staff to manage. Struggled to communicate with reception staff at night. My room smelt of rotting timber (shower waterproof issues). Reception staff failed to pass on a important message left for me. They said it was my fault because I wasn't in my room when they called. Spent the day out came back at 3:30pm to rest and shower and the rooms still not made up. Other day room was made up but wet towels and robes not replaced and more disappointing no toilet paper which I discovered at the wrong time, 😓 awarkard..... 😂. No light switch to turn off the balcony light causing large amounts of insects attracted by the light. The balcony door had gaps big enough for insects to come in. You need to call reception to have the balcony light turned off? Call reception that's another problem 😂.... The number is wrong in the room information book. Room front door has no sound proof quality. I was in a room next to the elevator and it was very noisy, it sounded like people were in my room. During check in could not get 2 keys for 2 people as there were not enough keys. No towel rail in the bathroom which is a very large bathroom. Built poorly but looks good. WiFi in the room works randomly. Bed was the hardest mattress I ever felt, I checked to see if it was just a wooden box. I don't mind a hard mattress but I sure some will not like it. No full length mirror in the room. First looks at the hotel it impressed but the details let it down. The end of the day you get what you pay for. The price was great but advertised as 4+ stars that is pushing it. Staff that were here were doing their best they just needed a few more. They were great and always doing their best to help. Thanks Miss Vy. Would I stay here again.... Not if...
Read moreMy wife and I are VERY happy with everything about this hotel.
The staff is truly amazing and goes out of their way to make you feel special and have a great time during your stay in Hoi An.
First, let me say that I contacted the hotel to help me surprise my wife with a beautifully decorated room, and they did an AMAZING JOB. I asked for small cake, flowers and decorations- but I got that and more! We were both super surprised. See some photos below. They glued around 60 heart-shaped balloons (red and white) to the ceiling. They had 2 sets of flowers, including 1 bouquet of red roses, a nice cake that said Happy Honeymoon. They also printed 5 photos of us, and hanged them on the frames in the room. The bathtub was also ready when we got it (hot water, ready to jump in), plus decorated with fresh flowers floating in the water. Amazing! The staff even helped us shoot the photos.
The breakfast buffet is really delicious, and we got so full we didn't have lunch two days in a row. Very good!
The pool is beautiful and well lit at night.
You can rent bicycles for free, anytime.
The spa is mostly ok, I'd give it 4/5. We had a couples Thai massage, and the ladies who gave us the massage were pretty great.
Phuc, one of the staff members who greeted us in the lobby, asked us our names, showed us a great, real smile, and has been super nice to us. He's greeted us with our personal names every time he sees us. He's great! He is a great staff member.
Highly...
