​I initially only booked for one night at Saigon Authentic Hostel, but I was so impressed that I ended up extending my stay. This is a place that truly feels like a home away from home, and the hosts' hospitality is what makes it so special. ​The location is absolutely perfect. It's tucked away on a quiet street, so you don't get the noise from the main road, but you're still just a minute's walk away from all the action. The area is filled with incredible local coffee and food spots, making it super convenient to explore and eat like a local. ​What truly sets this hostel apart are the hosts. They are genuinely helpful and incredibly sweet. Their excellent command of English made communication a breeze, and they were always ready to offer assistance and great tips. ​The amenities are top-notch for a hostel. The complimentary breakfast and coffee are absolutely delicious, a perfect way to start the day. The gym is well-equipped, perfect for a quick workout. The common working area is a great space to get things done, and the rooftop is a wonderful little retreat. I spent a lot of time chilling up there, especially with the beautiful September weather. For extra convenience, they also have bottled water and beer available for purchase. ​The cleanliness and comfort are outstanding. The entire hostel is very clean and sanitary. My bed was comfortable and neatly made, and I really appreciated the privacy and convenience of having an attached, clean washroom in the room. They even provide a complimentary towel and a padlock for your locker, which is a thoughtful touch. ​I also loved the variety of activities they offer. For a foreigner, it can be tough to find authentic local spots, but their activities are a fantastic way to experience the city's true character. We booked 2 family suites good for 5 pax for our vacation with friends in Saigon last September 11–13, 2025.

Pre-check-in service was great—the hostel communicated with us ahead of time to ensure we had everything we needed during our stay. They even arranged our airport pick-up, which was very convenient since we arrived late on our first day due to flight delays from Hanoi airport, and it was also raining. I really appreciated how accommodating they were with my requests prior to our arrival, and they even allowed us to leave our luggage after check-out so we could explore the city before heading to the airport.

The location is great—right in District 4 along the main road, making it easy to access shops, cafés, and restaurants nearby. Breakfast is served by the host and auntie in their small kitchen, which can only accommodate a few guests at a time, but that’s actually a nice touch since you can interact with other travelers. The food was delicious and freshly prepared.

Our family suite was clean, spacious, and even had a private balcony, which was a bonus. The owners are very hands-on, friendly, and welcoming—always greeting us with a smile and engaging in small conversations. Their warmth, made our stay feel like home.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Saigon Authentic Hostel to friends and fellow travelers who are looking for a budget-friendly, clean, and accessible place to stay in District 1. The hostel is well-known for its dorm-style accommodations, so most of the guests are foreigners suitable for backpackers which adds to the travel vibe. Though we’ve only tried their family suite, my recommendation will be limited only for the rooms we’ve tried.
