We had a lovely stay at maison Vu Tri Vien. The host, Duc is very accomodating and helpful: he'll hapily share tips for local foods and visits. Breakfast is stellar, we even got to try the best bun bò in town. Notice the incongruous fireplaces throughout the house. I haven't seen too many of these in Vietnam.
Rooms are comfy and clean. I read reviews mentioning mold in the bathroom. There was a little bit, but honestly not more than anywhere else. It was easily clean enough for us even with a toddler.

The rooms were spacious and had a bath. But the matrass was the worst we've had on our trip. You could really feel the springs in your back and it was not comfortable. It was really not acceptable.
The owner makes dinner for you if you stay two nights, which was nice and a great moment to socialize with the other guests. Breakfast however was very basic: only bread with butter, one egg, some fruit, and black coffee. Some marmelade or something...
Read moreI stayed here very recently for 2 nights. Its a beautiful house in a wonderful location in the citadel. Very close to the Imperial City and well located for all other sight seeing. I LOVED staying in the citadel! Its so full of interesting places, sights, and scenes of everyday life unfolding in front of your eyes! Such an authentic place to stay.
