I didn't want to write this review, however, in a couple of the previous reviews, the authors refer to a "60 year old man" that was injured at the Nice Hotel, and the hotel, though fully knowledgeable about the accident, refused to help with the medical bills.
I am the 60 year old man.
On December 6th, I was in the elevator of the hotel about to get out on the third floor where my room was, when the elevator stopped. I was about to get out when a very heavy stainless steel light fixture became dislodged from the two corners near the exit. It came down swinging at me and hit the top of my head at approximately a 45 degree angle. I blacked out for a moment and woke up on the floor.
The light fixture had swung to the back of the elevator. Wires were dangling. Some glass was broken.
I got up and pressed the door opening button and walked off. At that time I thought maybe the roof collapsed on me or the elevator crashed. My head hurt. I felt nauseous.
Next to the elevator are the stairs to the lobby. I was only on the third floor and decided to walk down, holding my head, and alert the owners. When I got to the bottom of the stairs, the first person I saw was Quan, the owner. I pressed the elevator button to have it come to the lobby. When the door opened, you could see the mess inside.
Quan told me he had never seen anything like this before. Attached is what he sent to me as I was supposed to be in Hoi An two days later but I had head and neck problems. I needed his explanation to miss a meeting.
I went to the hospital in Hue and was diagnosed with a bad concussion. My normal doctors were in Da Nang but I couldn't travel immediately. I called them and they told me to go to Danang as soon as possible and have CT Scans on both my head and neck.
When I got to Danang I was diagnosed, again, with a bad concussion. After the CT Scans it was revealed I had three collapsed discs and some other bad neck problems.
A good friend in Hue, Vietnamese, went to the hotel to speak to Quan. He told her that I told him I was "OK", but as most Westerners know, that means "I don't need any assistance at the moment". I had told her that I had some previous issues and some tests were precautionary because of these issues. I told her that I would accept payment for half of my expenses because of that.
He told her that he would pay half my medical bills as long as there weren't any more in the future.
He lied.
I contacted him and he became silent. I offered to just have it be 1/3 instead of half or about $250 USD. Silence. The hotel refused to help me. My friends thought they should pay everything.
To this day I still get random headaches and have bad neck problems. But Quan hasn't offered any monetary assistance. Nothing. Not a single Vietnamese dong of help even though his hotel has injured me. Even though he acknowledges it in the attached text message.
If you are a foreigner, just realize that there are some clear structural issues at the hotel, and if you get injured, you are on your own. Quan will not help you.
I always thought Quan was a good man. He's not. He's cheap and he's callous. He has ZERO concern for his customers outside of money. It was hugely disappointing. Don't stay here if you are a foreigner.
I didn't want to write this. I once thought Quan was a good person. But he was there. And he's offered...
Read moreI stayed here for two nights in December and it was INCREDIBLE! Quan was super sweet, super helpful, and organised tours and taxis for me. He even called when I got to the airport after checking out, to make sure everything was okay with my flight! Quan also gave me a room upgrade on arrival and was just an all-round charming host.
The hotel itself is new, spotless, and modern. The beds are great (not too firm!) and the showers are amazing. Definitely the best I've experienced in my trip so far. Daily cleaning is offered; the room locks securely with a keycard.
There's some construction going on across the road which does get a little noisy after 8AM, but that's not the fault of the hotel! The location is also a little far from the central Hué area, which makes it difficult to get around when it's raining.
Overall, fantastic stay! I'd...
Read moreNice Hotel is a gem I am happy to recommend. It is a real joy to find a place that is so modern and clean and a very reasonable price. They could probably call it the Hue Hilton.||||We had the hotel arrange for a car to pick us up from the airport and I am glad. There is a fair distance to travel. We found the staff to be very helpful and accommodating. They gave us great tips about where to go for food and entertainment.||||I know some of the reviews say that the hotel is not positioned well however we comfortably walked to every restaurant and attraction including The Imperial Palace. The streets are not as busy in Hue so it is fairly easy to walk around.||||The only criticism I have is that the hotel does not provide cups and ea cups and coffee. If I return to Hue I would have no hesitation booking a...
