After a rough train journey of 15 hours we arrived at around 11.30 am at Mai’s homestay. A woman asked us to sit down, showed us a placemat of the area and began to list the excursions in an automatic tune. Then she got up with the message "to see if our room was ready".|After fifteen minutes I asked if I could use a toilet. It was difficult to do that, we had to wait and the room was "almost ready". That was true, so pee there quickly. Someone else had done that too because it was visible and smelling.|We took a shower, or at least we tried, but there was no water pressure and the shower head hung so that the jet hit the door and the whole bathroom really got wet. For me became a turning point.|We asked for a different room or a solution for the shower, but the woman told "we could leave."|Now we are used to something but this was so rude: no welcome or drink on arrival, no interest in where we come from, only rude behavior of a young lady. After the incident, she came to our room to say that we really had to leave and "I will need the room now." We quickly packed our suitcases and we were shocked to leave the yard.|We are 55 and 62 years old and overwhelmed by what happened while we read those fantastic reviews. A Spa has now also been opened, is...
Read moreWe stayed here for two nights because of pre booking and coming in late in the evening. If ot wasnt for that, we would have moved. The family is super nice and very helpful. Having access to the bikes was a huge bonus and the breakfast included was good, not over the top. ||Location is ok. Not much happening within a short walking distance. Definitely not much nightlife which is great if you want the quieter side of things. But it is not that quiet come 4:45am. ||There is a government loud speaker that blares the news and a workout or something everyday that might wake you up. It definitely wakes up the local roosters and dogs! This was one unfortunate thing about staying here...the chained up dog. Lovely dog with a new puppy that barks a ton. Not really sure whats the point of having a dog permanently on a 3 foot chain?! And then to not do much about the barking....||Room we stayed in (family room) was very very very basic. Walls looked primed for paint and outlets still had plastic on them leading us to believe it is still a work in progress. ||The back deck is nice but not really nice enough to warrant a...
Read moreWe had a great time at this place. Our double room had an amazing view on the river and the mountain and was well decorated, which made it a pleasant stay in this room. The included breakfast was amazing, as all the other food, and there were many options for it. They had free bikes available and scooters for rent for a good price, but were not the best maintained. The staff was very friendly and tried to help as much as they could. We found they were a little reserved socially, it would have been nice to be a bit more in contact with the staff, like in the dining and chilling area. But we can't blame them as they have been working hard all the time! The towels were a bit smelly after one time using it, washing them a bit hotter may help. Also if you contact them via email, which you find on their Facebook account there is a small discount available.
We can...
