Simple Comfort, Perfect Beach: My Laputa Hotel Experience
Laputa Hotel offers a genuinely appealing stay, primarily thanks to its exceptional location right on Bai Khem beach.
During my recent two-night visit, I noticed some new faces among the staff. The rooms continue to provide comfort, and for a particularly peaceful stay, I recommend requesting a room near the elevator. I found the windowless rooms with their themed artwork surprisingly cozy and private.
A welcome addition is the small breakfast now offered, along with blue towels specifically for beach use. The immediate beach access here is a significant advantage, especially when compared to nearby options like Premiere Residences. I also appreciated the thoughtfully relocated outdoor water faucet for rinsing off after the beach.
Despite the recent staff changes, the core team remains genuinely friendly and welcoming. The hotel's convenient proximity to the airport (under 28 minutes by limo) and its location for enjoying the nightly fireworks display over the Kiss of The Sea show at 9 PM are definite perks. The atmosphere here is consistently safe and tranquil. Bai Khem beach itself is fantastic for swimming (best between 4-7 PM with its shallow waters), kayaking, and observing the little fish swimming around.
Just a couple of helpful tips: Upon arrival, double-check if the in-room refrigerator is switched on. Also, take a moment to find your preferred AC and fan settings for optimal comfort (I found AC with the fan during the day, and a warmer temperature with them off at night, worked best). The beds are comfortable, and the towels are nice and soft.
A few sincere suggestions for the hotel: Enhancing the breakfast experience (clearer labeling, a wider variety of fresh fruits, keeping the yogurt chilled, and a better soy sauce dispenser) would be wonderful. Additionally, a more relaxed, tropical style of uniform for the staff would likely make the overall atmosphere even more welcoming and in tune with the island vibe.
Overall, Laputa Hotel is a truly worthwhile choice for its prime beachfront location and comfortable...
Read moreThe staff is really friendly. The room is great. When we were (november 2024), there were no hotel in the building that is in front of the hotel, so we had some privacy, but the buildings are so close one to another that when someone will make another hotel there, you will see in other people rooms, but for now is great.
We stayed at 4 hotels in 3 weeks on the island and I can definitely tell you that this is the best area from the whole island. The beach is cleaned everyday and it is the best beach on the island. The hotel is quite new and it is really nice and cheap.
The only thing that we didn’t like is the breakfast. They serve vietnamese food for breakfast. We tried one day, but didn’t like it (the food is good, but it is more like a lunch, not breakfast). They serve eggs in case you don’t want the soup. We ate eggs 2 days, but after that we were so tired of eggs, that we didn’t want to go to breakfast anymore. If they would change the breakfast to an european/american one, this would be my favourite hotel from the ones we’d tried in Phu Quoc. Overall, it is...
Read moreThe hotel is in good location near beautiful Khem beach. However, the village is still under construction, so it seems like ghost town most of the time. There are a few restaurants in the area, but the buildings are mostly empty. It was difficult to communicate with the staff- English is not on the level as it should be at the hotel. The breakfast has a strange ordering system, it's mostly just soup like pho or some noodles. No buffet. The cleanliness of the hotel was insufficient! After first night, my dad woke up with some bites- thought it was mosquito. After 2 more nights he had countless itchy stings all over his body-bed bugs! We asked the staff to change the room but there was no free room, so they just changed the bed sheets and tried to convince us that there were jellyfish stings on my fathers body. The price is unreasonable, considering the services they offer. I would not return...
