Just like to preface this with with we are travelling as a couple and we are both aware of what to expect in budget rooms across SEA so I don't believe we are being unfair or having too high expectations. I also don't like giving bad reviews at all especially to small family run business so hopefully our experience was a one off and our negatives can be fixed in the future as there seemed to be plenty of good reviews at the time of booking. I didn't think to take photos at the time so don't have proof of my experience.
We booked and paid for two nights but only ended up staying for one. Something I've never had to do before.
Location is just of the main room but easy enough to find with plenty of restaurants/bars looking across the sea. However note there is no beach accessible within walking distance but easy enough to get a grab to one 10mins down the road.
The lady who checked us in seemed pretty annoyed by our arrival although we were expected and was quite rude but this wasn't our first experience with this kind of 'hospitality' in Asia but even still wasn't a great start.
The pool was completely unusable which was a major disappointment as it was one of our main attractions to the place. It was filthy, FULL of bugs and an almost murky green colour. I wasn't exactly expecting it to be completely bug/leaf free for an outdoor pool but it was beyond ridiculous how bad it was as you couldn't even see the bottom at all. Maybe it stormed badly the night before which I could of understood but no mention of that when arriving.
The room is small but not unexpected and seemed alright on the surface with aircon so was perfectly adequate for the money. The bathroom was very small though.
The windows were shutters so allowed a lot of bugs and heat in. We found a very large cockroach in the bathroom, lots of mosquitos/fly's and woke up to ants crawling on our arms, feet and bags. By the side of the bed was very dirty however and I could see old false nails and more alarming some small animal droppings. Not sure what but did see rats and more cockroaches around the hostel which isn't completely unexpected for Vietnam but definitely disconcerting to find signs...
Read moreBonnie Homestay is newly opened. Decoration takes inspiration from Hoi An so walls are painted bright yellow and pictures of Hoi An are featured on the wall. Very cosy with nice duvets, lovely tiles in the bathroom and fresh towels.
One of the owners—it was opened by four friends—picked me up from the bus station on her scooter. She showed me the room and then offered to explore the town with me that evening. We hopped back on her scooter and drove down to Mr. Dia Rock to listen to the waves and watch the stars. Then we drove to Mia resort for a drink—her favourite place in town to grab coffee. Such a lovely welcome to Mui Ne!
Location: The Sinh Tourist bus station is about a 15-minute walk from the homestay. But you can ask the bus company to drop you in front of the Homestay. It’s a 5-minute walk down a small road.
This place is away from the hustle and bustle. The beach on this end is quiet and you’ll see fisherman in the morning coming back with their catches. The homestay can rent you scooters for 130K per day.
The Homestay: They have dorm rooms—with no lockers at the moment—and private rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Each room is cosy and newly furnished. They have a very typical tube light as the main light but also a warmer hanging light which was perfect for the evening.
I’d only suggest maybe adding a side table or bedside table as I had to put most of my stuff on the floor. The bed was also very firm. But I like hard beds so it was no issue. The door locks with a padlock but the location is secluded and safe. I never felt at risk leaving my stuff in my room.
Breakfast isn’t included but can be prepared at your request at whatever time you desire for 20K. They serve a simple breakfast of...
Read moreThis review is very late but we had the absolute BEST 2 weeks at Bonnie Homestay!!! Literally cannot recommend it enough. Lulei and Jesse were absolutely awesome (so kind) and made us feel so welcome. We had such an epic time chatting and having some drinks with them! Absolute legends! The little man Luca (toddler) is hilarious and a lot of fun to play with (so clever too!) The bungalow was so well made and comfortable. It felt very private and peaceful and everything was so functional and well created! The pool was heavenly- really clean and a perfect size for swimming, jumping into and just messing about in. We used it almost every day there and it was such a good remedy for the heat! There is such a nice relaxing area by the pool too- for playing cards, having drinks, reading and sunbathing etc- and looking at the stars under the coconut trees is utter bliss. Added bonuses include the kitchen and laundry machine that you can use whenever- and everything is very chilled out and laid back. It was truly such a little slice of heaven and we are so appreciative for how welcome we were made and how much fun we had!!! Thankyou so much for everything and BIG love to...
