Good points: very helpful reception. Good location. Quiet. A few minutes walk from sea (boulevard) and to many restaurants/bars. ||Good size room and bathroom. Comfortable bed. Quiet, modern aircon. Good wifi connection. Good price....but read further.....||||Main issues: DAMP/MOULD. The room smelled terrible. We even bought an air-freshener. Had to use aircon constantly to reduce damp smell. Even the wardrobe made my clothes smell after one night. A large area of mould/damp was visible against bathroom wall in bedroom (see photo)||||Avoid if you suffer any respiratory condition - My wife has asthma and found the room unbearable. In fairness, we did check a vacant room next door and it did not smell too bad.||||I booked through TripAdvisor (Booking.com) and reserved a Standard Double Room with Tea/Coffee Maker and a mini bar as advertised. Guess what? .... neither were included. I really feel we were deceived here !!!! ||||Reasonably clean but a used hair comb was left on TV, and a water bottle top under chair. Not the end of the world but shows the lack if attention to detail - especially cleanliness.||||The shower, which is a mixer-tap over the bath, had no curtain so water went on floor tiles making it very slippy. Bath slippers (flipflops) were provided but with no hygene assured we prefer to not use them. We had no hot water.||||We did not switch on, or use, the fridge. We did not use the hotel restaurant so no comment.||||The neighbouring massage parlour mentioned by a previous Tripadvisor reviewer no longer exists.||The photo of the entrance used on Tripadvisor/Booking.com is not of the hotel but the neighbouring apartments.||||I cannot make a solid recommendation for Lam Son Hotel. However, if you are on a restricted budget and have the opportunity to view (and smell) the room first you may negotiate a good bargain. We discovered other, better, hotel rooms available nearby at the...
Read moreMy partner and I stayed here while we were in Vung Tau for Anzac Day. ||The hotel itself is nice enough, however the rooms are showing their age and could desperately do with a refurbishment. We had one of the rooms on the ground floor and the windows look right out onto the hallway, so you could hear and see all the other guests walking past at all hours. The shower in our bathroom hardly gave out more than a dribble the water pressure was so bad and shower attachment was so old and bent. ||The staff leave a lot to be desired. We were woken up twice by housekeeping trying to enter our room (without knocking first) at 7am to clean the room. Reception requested our passports twice to register our visit and wouldn't allow us to stand and wait for them to be photocopied as they had to wait for someone else to photocopy them, but wouldn't just come and request them later from us. When we checked out we were told that because we had paid upfront at the start we would have to wait for housekeeping to check our room for any damage before we were allowed to check out - at no point had we been told this and as we had a bus to catch it also made the whole process a lot more stressful than it needed to be. ||If the hotel was updated a bit and some of the staff issues addressed we'd probably stay here again, however, as it is there are many other hotels and guest houses in Vung Tau for a similar price with...
Read moreWith all the high rate hotels and resorts I found this hotel very cheap. But don't expect it to be of a high rate hotel or resort quality. You get what you pay for and in this case it's a bed in an airconditioned room with a fridge and tv and a bathroom. The sink only had a cold water tap and no hot water for shaving. The shower had decent preasure with hot as well with cold water.|The matras is reasonable and the bedlinnen is clean. The room is being cleaned once a day, but they seem to forget to clean the refridgerator. |The staff I've met is friendly and not pushy.||All in all, when you're looking for a cheapy in Vung Tau and you're not picky this is the place to be.||Beware: there is a "rex massage" parlour next door, but hey....it could...
