Golden Zambezi Lodge — Hotel in Lusaka Province

After a long day and not taking a shower before my trip I got my room key. The room smelled like a smoker was using it or it could have been lack of proper ventilation. There was no hot water and had mosquito. A lot of mosquitos and no mosquito net. I asked reception for insecticide and was told she couldn’t give me because the only bottle they had was in another room. When I asked about hot water I was told maintenance people work during the day. It’s 2 in the morning and cold the people didn’t even bother to check the room they were selling for a reservation made over 24 hours. If you like your rooms a bit of the old side with poor bathroom drainage and a bit of rough service this is your place. If you like value for money and piece of mind with hot showers don’t bother with this place. There are better and cheaper places a few hundred meters...

I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. The bed sheets were dirty, and the room was full of mosquitos, making it impossible to rest. After just one hour of being there, the power went out and never came back until you beg them for hrs to switch on the backup generator. When I asked for help, the night staff was extremely rude and unhelpful, simply saying there was nothing they could do coz backup generators had no fuel 🤦On top of that, the outside noise made it even harder to get any rest.

This place is definitely not worth the money, and the service does not meet even basic standards. I do not recommend it to anyone seriously looking for a comfortable or professional stay.

Totally OK budget lodge. Rooms were fine, but nothing special. I wish the rooms in first floor would have a view out the window. Instead the only thing I saw out the windows were the building one meter in front or a tall fence. The food was ok, but not always easy to find a waiter to take your order there so first time I thought it was closed even though it wasn't. The bar was nice with possibilities of sitting outdoors.
