Melsim Lodge — Hotel in Lusaka Province

Rooms: The old rooms are outdated and have an old woody smell that never seems to go. The bathrooms have pieces of plumbing such as soap holders falling apart. The pipework needs cleaning as the showers are very very dirty and stained. One piece of furniture in my room was stained with what looked like dried soup (something that would have been easily wiped clean by workers). The TVs only have 4 channels and the WiFi is very poor. However the rooms are spacious and the mattresses are okay, no complaints there... The newer rooms are definitely better than the older rooms Restaurant: The waitresses need a refresher course in customer service. The service was generally below average and frankly poor to say the least. Breakfast is average and is served cold, nothing exciting. The surroundings aren't that clean in this restaurant. For example, some utensils such as salt and toothpick trays have dried soup on them and the restaurant team sees nothing wrong with this. Surroundings: This is one of the only positive things about this place. They have a great swimming pool and bar area and generally clean outdoor environment. If you are a day visitor who is not meant to spend the night, you will enjoy this area.

My recent dining experience was deeply disappointing, marked by significant shortcomings in both service and food quality. The service was notably slow and inattentive; a simple cup of tea took an inexcusable 30 minutes to arrive, reflecting a lack of prioritization for customer satisfaction.

When it came to the food, the ribs were tough and lacked the succulence expected of fresh meat, leaving the impression they had been stored far too long. The salads were equally underwhelming—basic, uninspired, and akin to something hastily assembled at home with minimal effort. The gravy, unfortunately, was the low point: bland, watery, and utterly devoid of the rich flavor one anticipates.

I urge the restaurant to address these critical areas. Improved staff training to enhance efficiency and attentiveness, coupled with a commitment to ingredient freshness and culinary creativity, could transform this establishment. As it stands, the experience fell drastically short of expectations, and I hope constructive feedback leads to meaningful...

Was staying at the lodge for a few days,had booked a double room,as I was going to be staying with my daughter,when w got there I was informed that they fry I not allow same sex people to sleep in the same bed-despite explaining that it was my daughter;they were not having it;saying it was hotel standard rules worldwide 😳which I found difficult to accept |Even if I had been in a same sex relationship booking a twin room would not stop us from sharing a bed|After then booking a twin room,when we got to the room,there was no towels in the room |Trie to turn the tap on in the shower,the shower pressure was poor as the shower head was clogged up-had to remove the shower head to allow enough water to come through to have a decent shower |Breakfast was not great|The bar was ok and the staff in the bar were attentive...
