Cozy lodge with local, friendly personnel. The absolute lowest priced in its class. Rooms are small, a bit noisy and not always in the best of shape. Also the shower had only lukewarm water but that wasn't an issue with the hot temperatures outside. Each room has air-conditioning but since there isn't much insulation the effect is that of a cool breeze. There's a fridge in the room and you can get a watercooker if you ask for it. The bed was a bit hard but good enough for a few nights. The yard is an absolute plus, very green and calm with nice African art on the walls. Breakfast is sufficient and the staff will prepare dinner for a reasonable price, although you can get more and better if you go into town. Because the room are somewhat noisy, I could hear trains whistling and dogs howling during the night. Also everybody (else) seems to wake up at 6 in the morning, so sleeping in can be a challenge. All in all the quality was what you could expect for this price; good enough. I prefer this place over the other hostels and lodges which are somewhat overpriced in this city. Would definitely...
Read moreWe had a very pleasant, three-night stay at Okavango. The room for the two of us was small but adequate: comfortable bed with a good mattress, mosquito net, and decent pillows. Air conditioner takes a while to get to work but does the trick. Fridge should be defrosted. Bathroom is tight but fine. Usually enough hot water in shower. Free breakfast consisted of well made scrambled eggs, chorizo-like sausage, toast, and fruit. Instant coffee/tea. WiFi worked most of the time. But what makes the place special is the friendly and attentive staff. They were so kind and genuine. Breakfast in the beautiful courtyard, filled with lovely plants and two Uber-friendly cats made us feel like home. It was honestly hard to leave. And the price is quite fair for the higher than average costs for lodging near the...
Read moreI had one of there larger rooms, with a separate bedroom and a comfy living. That suited me well staying for business for two weeks. The place has only 14 rooms, set around a nice courtyard with a braai, a little terrace and picknick tables. There is a real African feel to it, with lots of locals and occasional westerners staying there. Nambizi, the owners is a very happy and friendly host. Rooms are clean, beds and comfortable, everything you need is there. The only thing still missing is guest WiFi, but according to the owner that will be coming soon. I used the Iconnect around the corner with reliable and relatively speedy internet (Mon-Sat). Nambizi books all tours in the area (Chobe day tour, helicopter tour above the falls, Mosi oa Tunya National park etc) and she has you picked up...
