Zest Bar And Restaurant Livingstone — Restaurant in Southern Province

We went here based on a recommendation. When entering, we were a bit underwhelmed at the slightly dated decor and fairly shabby appearance. When our drinks (boxed juice) took 15 minutes and came hot and ice cubes took another 10 minutes, we got worried and considered leaving. We did however take a leap of faith and ordered our food. There was no ham, bacon or halloumi available, so that reduced the menu choices quite a bit, but in the end we made our orders. The mini crocodile skewers were a great way to sample some crocodile meat. The nshima was also good, kapenta a bit too salty, but ok. The burger and fries was good, but the kitchen was a bit too generous with the bbq sauce and salad dressing. The pizza was quite good and the stir fry chicken was really really good. Overall generous portions. All in all: we enjoyed our meals and were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was! Last night the ambience was great, family friendly with some quiet spots. Ordered a chicken espertada & chorizo sausage with onion rings and a zest shandi on the go, was told that the order would take 30 mins, then the stories started, they came to tell us that the type of onions they had were not good for onion rings so they wouldnt be able to make them for me - so I changed my side order to vegetable samoosas, we waited for over an hour and a half🤔 when the order finally came, it came without the zest shandi. When probed on this the waiter came back to say that they had run out of bitters - tje joke is I had to remind the waiter that the K170 bill wasn't paid.... I had the honour of visiting Zest on my first night of vacation in Livingstone. I enjoyed the environment very ideal for a sit down over drinks while having fun with friends. They make a very mean Portuguese chicken and, I enjoyed the both the live music and the Djs playlist. A must visit if you ask me. They also did outdoor catering for the #jamesonconnect an event I was attending while in Livingstone. There I tried their amazing goat tacos and a first for me the crocodile ribs.
