Scooter Snorkeling Antigua — Local services in Antigua

This tour was absolutely fantastic. We were picked up on time right from our hotel lobby by our tour guide Imran. Imran was our taxi driver, our snorkel guide and our friend for the duration of this tour. We mainly booked this tour to see sea turtles, the addition of scooters was an interesting plus. Never used one before, now I'm not sure I can snorkel again without one :-) Imran was great. As mentioned, we were picked up on time, in an air condition van and driven right to our snorkel location. The location itself is well maintained and a great location to get familiar with your gear (mask, snorkel, fins) as well as your scooter. Imran's directions were clear, quick and in no time we made our way to the water. No boat, you walk in right off the shore which was great. Imran made sure everyone's gear worked before we left, which was great, and then off we went. The scooters are super easy to use and make snorkeling a breeze. It's great for someone who is not a great swimmer as the machine does the work for you. For those that are great swimmers, the scooters are fun. They help you move through the water with ease, dive, surface, whatever you want. We made our way out to sea, the visibility was minimal close to shore but we still spotted two turtles. As we made our way further our the visibility increased. We saw a ship wreck, a coral farm, tons of fish and five sea turtles. The turtles was my main reason for taking this tour and it did not disappoint. Watching them underwater, watching them surface for air, it was an amazing experience. Diving with this scooter limits the amount of energy you need to put into snorkeling. The equipment was great, we wanted to see tulles and did, and Imran was fantastic. I can't recommend this...

We met a couple at Hammock Cove that had been in contact with the owner of the scooter snorkeling and they invited us along on their tour. The staff went above and beyond our expectations. They came and picked us up from our resort and drove us to the beach, went over a thorough briefing on how to use the scooters, what to look out for, hand signals etc. I informed him I got seasick easily, but didn’t expect this trip to be an issue for me at all as I was in the water vs on a boat. He checked in with me regularly and we went out to the pillars of hercules and the sea was a little more rough than expected. I was perfectly fine, until I wasn’t. He noticed and asked his friend/coworker to take my scooter and swim me into the reef out of the rough sea. I ended up still not feeling well so he took me all the way into shore and sat with me while I tried not to toss my cookies 🥲. The rest of the group was able to continue seeing the reef and ship wrecks, which I was thankful my sickness didn’t stop their trip! They took photos of us underwater and even had snacks in their pockets to get the school of yellowtail snapper that had been following us to swim all around us. We got up close and personal with sea turtles, eagle ray, and stingrays. It was absolutely stunning and worth every single penny and then some. Scooter Snorkelling was a most memorable experience from our time in Antigua. We were collected from our resort and transported to Galleon Bay, English Harbour. It is hands down the best snorkelling experience we have ever had. Swimming alongside both green and hawksbill turtles was incredible. We saw so many in the end, that I had completely lost count! The ‘scooters’ made it easy to navigate the water, and enabled us to spend ample time snorkelling, without tiring. We were also lucky enough to see an eagle ray as well as an array of different fish. My husband was lucky enough to see two puffer fish also. At no point did we feel rushed, and both Damon and Imran ensured that everyone felt safe, had the appropriate equipment fitted correctly and understood how the experience would work, before heading out into the bay. Damon was very knowledgable about the area and they were able to take us straight to the areas where we would be most likely to see the beautiful sea life. With no additional charge, we were emailed some incredible photographs of our experience to share with family and friends. I would highly recommend this experience. It was everything we could have hoped...
