Eve Health — Local services in Brisbane City

If you're looking for quality care, this is NOT the practice to go. If you're about to start fertility treatment, you would be much better placed to seek out the services of a highly reputed specialist who works in private practice where you will get individual care. We became patients of Eve Health Spring Hill last year when our (then) specialist moved here and out of private practice. Going through fertility treatment is huge decision and who you choose to look after you is not one to take lightly. It is also in itself a stressful experience. You want your doctors to get it right and be available and you want administration/ nursing staff to be professional, accurate, reliable and compassionate. And this is NOT what we (or others we have since spoken to) have got from EVE. From small stuff ups to major problems - all we experienced in the hands of this clinic had an accumulative effect and made a challenging journey a nightmare. From showing up at the designated time for early morning appointments only to find the clinic not open at the time they were meant to be (we waited 1/2 hour, then left), to being twice given the wrong patient's blood test results AND MEDICATION INSTRUCTIONS by phone by nurses ( It is only because I am knowledgeable of what are normal results for me that I twigged something was up and asked questions), to being given a blood test request by an acting Dr late on a Friday afternoon with the wrong patient's clinical notes on it (it said "follow up on abnormal cervical smear results" instead of "cycle monitoring". Yes, I went an entire weekend mid-ivf cycle after seeing this info on the Friday night and not being able to contact the clinic for clarification thinking my recent pap smear had produced an abnormal result and I may have cancer but no one had had me about. And yes, this was in the middle of my ivf cycle. The unnecessary stress!!) to a myriad of other issues that I could write a book about. But oh what they do get right is the very opulent rose gold décor and coffee machine. Essentially that is what you are paying (top dollar) for. We had being seeing an obstetrician at a private clinic for our first child. Unfortunately we experienced a heartbreaking few years, so needed to find a specialist obstetrician to get some fertility testing done.

We came across Dr Ben Kroon, who also specialises in reproductive endocrinology. From the second we met him, we knew we were in the right place. He took the time prior to our appointment to read through our extensive notes, and was genuinely sympathetic to our situation. His testing and investigations were thorough. We made the decision to continue at Eve Health when we fell pregnant again. We were obviously quite anxious for our next pregnancy, so Ben was happy to support us through our first trimester with blood tests and scans, even though he doesn’t do full pregnancy obstetrics. I have fond memories of our first ultrasound, he made us feel incredibly comfortable knowing how scared we were, and genuinely celebrated with us when the heartbeat came up on the screen. He even let us record this beautiful moment which meant so much to us.

Ben then referred us to Dr Paul Conaghan for the remainder of our pregnancy due to his specialisation in high risk pregnancies. He was incredible. Once again, he was sympathetic to our anxieties and understood that a lot of the support I would need was more to do with my mental health. He organised additional scans, blood tests and even referred me to a nurse in the practice who specialised in bereavement counselling. Paul celebrated every milestone with us.

We also appreciated his assistant, Samantha, and how amazing it was to be able to contact her with any questions. She was always prompt in her responses and incredibly helpful.

On the big day, Paul made the effort to come in during his day off, as he knew how important it was for us to have him with us to ease our anxieties. He certainly created a calm environment during the birth, and I was so pleased to have him there.

All the ladies at the front desk are lovely and really helpful. I had an injury during my pregnancy, they were supportive in organising a wheel chair for me.

DON"T PUT YOUR HEALTH CARE IN THEIR HANDS I've been sent to Eve by another Clinic that wasn't specialised in the tests I needed. I decided to book with EVE because I was told they're professional and have the best experts in Brisbane. I have 3 abnormalities of the highest level of risk growing on my cervix and I'm only 24yo, I was very worry when I found out. After the first pricy appointment I've been completely neglected. I called several times on the day I was told to call to hear about the results of my 3 biopsies (that will ensure is not cancer yet), talked with 2 different people that day and couldn't get a hold of the doctor to discuss my results. No one called me back and they're close over the weekend. Spend a horrible weekend not knowing details of my health nor the prices of the next steps. Monday and Tuesday happened and after many "We'll leave another message and get back to you asap" from 2 "managers still nothing. Tuesday before the closing time I called again, mentioning lawyers. In 10 minutes after saying that I was on the phone with my very unimpressed doctor that literally said something like "would you like to hear about your results or not?" to interrupt my complaints about her unprofessional attitude and my worries. As you can imagine I decided to not trust them with the rest of my health care and refused to have surgery with them. This was last week and NOW I'm still waiting for my referral so I can go to another doctor. Soon it will be Christmas and my entire situation is still uncertain only because I decided to trust Eve's clinic. This was not a one person mistake but a highly unorganised system and lots of unprofessional people that don't care about the physical and certainly not about the mental well being of their patients. Please don't go to them if you want to have peace of mind and be well taken care of.
