You know you're on a winner when you have superb breakfast in one spot (Vega Cafe), only to follow up with a stunning dinner right next door.

I booked Creole Soul Kitchen weeks in advance to align with a short getaway my wife and I had planned. Upon arrival, we were quickly seated and, credit to them, they had both noted and remembered my request for a quiet table on the fringes. This is exactly what was provided.

The venue itself is inviting, cosy and warm. Although the majority of tables are outside, large heaters keep the chill at bay. Inside, several patrons could be seen enjoying drinks at the bar, while there were diners aplenty, even on a Monday night.

After the welcoming owner spent some time chatting to us, we were placed in the hands of the extremely capable Lachie. Sociable, knowledgeable, and an excellent host. A rare gem in the Hospitality world, he had the knack of befriending you, albeit for a mere hour or two.

The menu is a treasure trove of delicious options and one visit honestly doesn't feel adequate. I could go back right now to further explore this culinary adventure. That being said, we opted for the Chicken Cobbler, Gumbo Yaya, and the Cornbread & Beans as a shared entree. Desserts consisted of the Sour Cherry Bread Pudding and Churros.

Without any embellishment, I can say that the meals were genuinely divine. The cornbread, simplistic in its own right, was perfectly balanced with the meaty, smoky beans. The gumbo was tantalising in its protein-packed, rich, salty offering, while the cobbler, although milder in flavour than the gumbo, still delivered a taste sensation. Both desserts were well presented and much enjoyed, a fitting way to end a wonderful evening.

Side note, the prawns enhanced the gumbo, I'd recommend them. Opt for the Yaya over the standard gumbo. Additionally, I loved the toast included with the gumbo, it was awesome!

In summary, Creole Soul Kitchen epitomises success. The food, service, venue, and quality are all 5 star. I believe this business is approaching its 10-year anniversary, and it's easy to see why. It was a pleasure dining there and we look forward to...

Waited 60 minutes for takeaway ordered rib eye 600gram steak , pasta , po Boy , churros , chips after 50 minutes I said to the waitress it's been 50 minutes is it going to be much longer? She said no it's coming right now we are packing it 11 minutes later after they had packed the chips (chips go soggy after a while especially 11 minutes in a container) steak and po Boy I said I'll just take my money back we are still waiting the female owner got very defensive and loud trying to defend why it's taken 50 minutes apparently in a 'commercial' kitchen it takes 50 minutes for a 600gram rib eye and apparently I was told it was be awhile (no I wasn't and the waitress even said she didn't tell me) the male owner her husband asked what happened then quickly became very very aggressive slammed a few 50 dollar bills Infront of me whilest being super aggressive I was grabbed for no reason to be honest all I wanted was a apology and if it is going to come out in a hour time everything to be pretty close for $125 I expect perfection we definately could of resolved it but instead he was super aggressive? As a owner you should try rectify not choose aggressive behaviour especially to the point the whole restaurant stopped eating and his wife had to pull him back then the wife said if I said 50 minutes one more time she would call the police on me? Because I understand they were probably having a bad day I didn't call the police or better yet ACCC on them considering I didn't break any laws or show any aggression I just can't believe that he was so...

August 2019. I've dined here a couple of times since the review below and now increased the rating to 5 stars. We arrived with no reservation yet the staff offered a place at the bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Despite every table and seat being occupied the owner and staff treated us like we were the only ones there.

My meal was the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. It was full of flavours I had never experienced before. The owner suggested that I use a genuine Louisiana hot sauce. I did and it added a lovely addition to the other flavours. My partner commented that her Crab Gnocci was fresh crab and the Gnocci was light and fluffy. She can only eat small portions but that was no problem. They catered for her special dietary condition professionally and without complaint.

Always best to make a reservation first and don't plan to eat for 8 hours after.

Rarely do I give a restaurant such a high rating, but this one deserves it. Most of the dining is outside under the awnings. Service is very good. Not only are the Wait staff attentive, they know their product.

The Proprietor attended our table 3 times checking if we needed anything, and happily answering questions like the difference between American Creole and Cajun.

They have a large selection of Australian, American and other International beers, wines and spirits. The menu has the Southern US Creole style to it. That is Spanish/French /African.

This is my 2nd visit and I'll be back to try more...

Right across from The Johnson Art Series by Accor this place is a pleasant surprise. A funky little restaurant with some really bold, unusual dishes and flavours. I dined here two nights in a row after a dinner appointment fell through on the second night. First night I had Soft shell crab as an entree (my favourite) and the Blackened Salmon as a main. Lots of flavour packed in both, the blackened salmon definitely packed a kick, but had an unusual accompaniment of watermelon to ease the pain. Very much enjoyed that meal. The second night I opted for the Nashville Hot Quail as an entree. A dish to be warned of and to prepare yourself for, it was incredibly spicy. Tasty, but it was hard work and was so spicy I was a little unsure I’d actually enjoy the flavours once I got stuck in. I made it to the end though. The main was the Chicken fried chicken. A signature dish I was told and the most unimpressive of the 4 dishes I had there, but the sauce made up for a lot. The girls serving were great, but the second night there was a young male server who did not actually do anything at all. He stood by and watched others serve, and put in the hard work. If you’re the owner, I’m sure you’ll know who I’m talking to. If you’re a diner, get service from the ladies in the place.
