As a Colombian visiting Brisbane, I was really looking forward to enjoying some authentic Colombian food. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing.
I ordered the beans bowl (a traditional dish from my city), but the beans were sticky and didn’t taste fresh, the pork belly wasn’t crispy (it seemed like it had been reheated in a microwave), and the plantain was overly greasy.
After giving feedback, I decided to try an arepa, which should be a simple, staple dish. However, it was made with flour instead of real corn (maíz), undercooked in the middle, and so soft that it was impossible to eat.
My son ordered a pandebono (his favorite), but he wouldn’t eat it. When I tried it, I realized it was still frozen inside.

I ordered the Big Calentado with extra chicharrón, and everything was delicious. One small suggestion for improvement: the patacones were a bit under-salted, and the chicharrón could use a touch more seasoning, though the lime served on the side definitely brought out the flavor in the end. The Latin music playing in the background was a great plus and at the perfect volume to enjoy without being overwhelming. They also have a beautiful little corner selling assorted Colombian products, which adds a unique touch to the place. I’ll definitely be...
