The Morningside Meat Market — Local services in Brisbane City

My foodie husband has been a regular customer of Rob's at this company. He was sad to learn that Rob was gone, but he bought a large King Island Rump (6.82 kg at $14.99/kg) - $102.23 all up! He bought the meat on Saturday, last on his list. He put in an esky, came straight home and right away put it in the fridge. It is now Sunday dinner time....... the a/c is on in the kitchen/dining area. He unwraps the meat........ and it stinks!!!!! It smells disgusting!!! It is so bad that we had to turn off the a/c and open all the windows, despite the 31degC outside that are now coming inside. Worst part of this nightmare is this: we checked the label....... the use by date said said 16/03, but then it was CROSSED OUT BY HAND TO READ 02/05 !!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me? I assume you realized this meat was old or hadn't been handled properly, therefore you FUDGED the use-by date??? Really????????

How miserable is this! We were looking forward to dinner - no dinner now. We were reasonably cool - now we are HOT. The room smelled fine - now it stinks. We spent lots of money on that meat - now we may have to fight to get a refund/replacement. Today is Sunday. This place isn't open until Tuesday....... so we need to keep this rotten piece of meat in our fridge for another two days!!! I am NOT happy....... not happy at all......... so much money down the drain.

Love this place! Me and my mates go every week (if not more) and there's always at least one great deal on. Terry and the team are super knowledgable and always helping me out with suggestions for the best way to cook and prepare the meat I get. They're extremely welcoming and are always up for a catch up while I have a browse. Their prices are also very affordable, a lot of their stuff is cheaper than the big supermarkets and 10x better quality. 10/10 in every aspect and can't recommend...

I’m sure the lower reviews are for a previous establishment/owner as they do not reflect my multiple experiences here and are also very old. My husband and I come from other side of town to this butcher. Big slabs of meat, cut for you, amazing burgers and sausages.
