Dining with Saucy Wench (A.K.A Lisa Liu) is far more than a meal – it is an experience.
At a secret warehouse venue in Morningside, our foody group enjoyed a bespoke six-course Thai banquet hosted by Lisa Liu, the vibrant force behind the award-winning business Saucy Wench.
We began with Lemongrass Prawn Spring Rolls, crisp and delicious, paired with Saucy Wenches’ famous Chilli Jam or Plum Sauce. The Massaman Beef Curry was rich, fragrant and oh-so-comforting, while the Chicken and Cashew Stir-Fry offered the perfect crunch and balance of flavours. The standout Duck and Lychee Red Curry and Salmon Choo Chee Curry highlighted Saucy Wenches’ signature sauces, layered with a hint of chilli, spice and citrus. Dessert was a silky Mango Sago with coconut cream and pandan - a tropical dream.
Lisa Liu’s (who is affectionately known as ‘Saucy’) story is as flavourful as her food. Growing up in Malaysia, she learned to cook at her mother’s side before eventually founding Saucy Wench in Brisbane – a brand born from a spontaneous neighbourhood cook-up during the river city’s Brisbane’s 2016 floods.
Saucy Wenches’ handmade sauces and frozen dumplings are now stocked in quality boutique stores and top restaurants, winning countless national awards for their standout taste and authenticity.
Our banquet was warm, generous, and utterly delicious – a reflection of Saucy herself.
We are already looking forward to making (and eating!) delicious dumplings or bao buns at her incredible handmade classes or even joining Saucy Lisa on an overseas food adventure.
Thank you, Saucy Wench! We...
Read moreThe sauces and dumplings are absolutely incredible. Bold, intense flavours in the sauces (a little often goes a long way), and the dumplings are mouthwateringly good with incredibly delicate, almost diaphanous skins that are a pleasure to bite through (you can literally see the filling inside through the translucent skin when steamed, they're that thin!). The fillings are flavourful and have a pleasant bite.
The chilli jam and garlic and eschallot vinaigrette are favourites for the sauces, and it's hard to go past the classic pork and wombok for the dumplings. Definitely worth a try, and so easy to throw together for a delicious meal when you want to treat yourself but don't want to cook all night to do so....

There is also a wonderful recipe book to get you started. I highly recommend you give them a try. You can order online as I now do. There are outlets around where you can buy direct. They are all lovely but the Satay...
