I had a very uncomfortable experience here. I walked in and was greeted, and when I asked if they sold chicken mince, the man (who I believe is the owner, grey hair with a beard) said yes. I then politely asked, “Could I get 500 grams when you get a chance.”
To my surprise, he cut me off in front of several other customers and said, “Hey, take it easy,” in a condescending tone. As he walked over to the mince, he muttered, “Gosh, take it easy.” I calmly responded, “I said when you get a chance,” but he repeated, “Yes, and you need to take it easy.” I was shocked and thought surely he's joking, then asked, “What do you mean by that?” and he sternly replied again, “You just take it easy.”
I told him not to worry about the meat and left feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable. My family knows this man, and after reading some other reviews, it seems I’m not the only one who’s had this type of experience. I couldn’t help but wonder if a man would have been spoken to that way — the tone and attitude felt dismissive and unnecessary.
I’ve also noticed comments about discounts being given for 5-star reviews, which feels a bit misleading.
The meat itself is fine, but nothing exceptional — and considering the steep prices, I expected better service. I ended up going to Superbarn afterward and got similar products for a fraction...
Read moreThe first time I used the butchery, the service was friendly/helpful and the Lamb was tender and yummy, the second time the service was nothing special and the Lamb was yummy but a bit tough, not their fault I thought so I didn't worry to much, the third time I purchased 12.250 KG (a side of Lamb) that was advertised on the black board at $7.95 a kilo, to my surprise when getting it home there was just under 8 Kilos, I called and spoke to Richard, he informed me that the weight was a dress weight and people usually don't want the off cuts and bones (I was not asked if I wanted them) I have a dog and was expecting to receive what I paid for, Richard, made me feel like I had no right to complain and said "he could help me out with some bones if that's what I wanted", I should not have to ask for the $30.00 of meat I paid for, he should not of stolen it from me in the first place, I will not be back and I will inform every one I know about my experience, I WILL go back to using "Solly's" in Bega, you get every thing you pay for, delivered...
