Big Disappointment⌠I moved to Perth a few months ago and I was intrigued to visit this Italian food store and deli to find a bit of my roots in this city. As an Italian chef I would expect anything but 100% authentic Italian food and produce, specially if you choose to use a name like âNapoli and Mercatoâ. Napoli is one of our most traditional city in Italy where the food is an institution. Napoli cuisine is 100% based on decades of tradition, freshness and high quality ingredients. When I walked into this store, I couldnât smell anything, I couldnât smell that freshness of produces aroma that characterises food stores in Italy. I was expecting to smell the aroma of coffe, mixed with the deli meat and cheese and the fresh fruits. After spending 25 mins walking around and checking out their products I realised that this was a âfakeâ Italian food store, itâs sad to see how our world famous traditional cuisine gets misleads and misinformed by owner that donât have a clue and people will believe that thatâs our âtraditionalâ food. A part from some cheeses, there wasnât much of Italian in the store, Australian made produces with âItalianâ names and a few Indian produces too which I found quite insulting, I love Indian cuisine but if I was looking for some Indian produce I will go to the Indian store and not Italian store. Hanging a few Italian flags, pasta machines and plastic sausages and cheese doesnât make an Italian store a such, most of the Italian produces are available at my local Coles and Woolworths too for the same price. As an Italian person I was expecting to find a whole compartment with the most unique and researched pasta, different quality of San Marzano tomatoes, a real Italian deli and not that tasteless and pale Australian made ham. I must say that the coffee I had it was good, although the attitude of the customers team it wasnât what you expect if you walk into an âItalianâ store. The blonde lady serving the coffee had a grumpy attitude. What characterise our people are the friendliness and passion they put into deliver an authentic Italian service, from the water and chocolate next your macchiato coffee to the chat with the bartender while preparing your coffee. In this store is missing that type of human warmth contact and passion that only Italian knows how to deliver. I wonât be...

From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, filled with the enticing aromas of freshly brewed coffee and an array of local, fresh produce.
The coffee and cakes at Napoli Mercato were a standout. The coffee was rich, aromatic, and clearly sourced with care. Itâs the kind of brew that makes you pause and savor every sip, a testament to their commitment to quality. The selection of cakes and sweets were equally impressive.
The array of local fresh produce was out of this world, showcasing vibrant fruits, vegetables and artisanal goods.
But the real highlight for me was the Old Forest Honey. This isnât just honey, itâs an experience. Its deep, complex flavour, with subtle floral notes, elevated everything I paired it with, from a simple slice of bread to a chunk of their carefully curated cheese. Itâs clear that Napoli Mercato takes pride in offering unique, high quality items that you wonât find just anywhere.
