I pressed 3 stars but my actual rating is 2.5 stars. 50%. I was a recent patient here for a bowel surgery and was discharged just over a week ago after a 3 week stay.
The good: My surgical doctors who took care of me, Dr Salama who performed my surgery and Dr Keelan who took care of me in Dr Salamaās absence were really good and so was the surgical team who looked after me, not too abrupt and negative like a lot of other surgical doctors so that was good. Most of the nurses were really nice especially Godly, he was in the ward a lot. TV services were also great with additional Foxtel and movie channels, I was able to watch non stop cricket to help cope with my pain! Overall, entertainment, nurses and doctors were the good bits
The bad: There is one protocol that annoyed me to the absolute maximum, whenever I had to take a medication, I always get asked āTell me your full name and D.O.Bā that is the most annoying stupid protocol I have experienced, I literally have a wristband that already has those details, sometimes Iām in too much pain to talk, or Iām too tired and dozing. Please just stop making us repeat the same old things The obs machines are dodgy and need to be replaced, I mean the velcro on a lot of the blood pressure monitors are dodgy and keep coming apart, myself or the nurse have to physically hold it ourselves. You canāt have dodgy equipment in a hospital, very disappointed with that. The blood test people were a nightmare and often did a poor job leaving bruises and pain in my arms and hands, they kept having to move the needle around during blood tests to get into a vein. They still came in to poke me with a needle, EVEN WHEN I HAD A PICLINE! If I EVER have to come back I will request for a picline straight away so my bloods can be taken from there easily rather than painful needles destroying my veins. The most important thing you need when recovering is SLEEP, and you get none of it in the hospital. Obs schedules are poor, do them at like 8:30pm at the latest instead of like 10:00pm and instead of 5:00am do them at like 7:00am. And the noise is a nightmare, canāt people outside be more quiet! The worst part of all is the catering, it is extremely poor. Firstly, their schedules are poorly timed, breakfast is at like 7:00am when people are still trying sleep or slowly waking up, canāt you do it at 8:00am. Lunch is fine itās usually around 12:30-1:00pm. But dinner is at 5:00pm!! Thatās way to early!! 6:30pm is a better time, give us space and time to digest our meals!! Secondly, they get a lot of orders wrong especially with diet changes, I started at clear fluids and got upgraded to nourishing, and they still gave me clear fluids for lunch! So I was finally able to get nourishing fluids for lunch after a lot of sorting out things and they gave me double for ācompensationā, how on earth can I eat double Iām literally slowly resuming my eating habits thereās no way Iām eating double, so lots of food wastage for you there! And if I get upgraded on a day, how about please telling us what weāre having instead of giving us the āchefās choiceā because then you either serve too much or give stuff we donāt like so again, more food wastage. Give the light diet more variety itās just the same things every day, it gets boring. And maybe think about installing coolers and warmers on your trolleys, because my ice creams were often half melted by the time they got served to me and my meals went cold quickly. Also can the people who take our orders please read EVERY option! Because I found out I missed out on different things I wouldāve loved because they werenāt read out. The catering needs massive improvement Also a suggestion, if patients want to have a walk outside for some fresh air, please find a way to do so instead of constricting us indoors, fresh air and vitamin D is vital! The beds are extremely uncomfortable and hard, I developed a pressure wound because of this, seriously please get more softer comfortable beds! That is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy Obstetrician Dr Nicola English and her team were absolutely amazing. Cannot fault her, she goes literally above and beyond. Very caring and genuine, but also down to earth and very knowledgeable. Birth suite accommodated me very well from before delivery and after delivery. From the midwives, to the lactation consultants. All were great. I ended up delivering early with MCDA twins due to HELLP syndrome and everyone in theatre were fantastic. Dr English performed the delivery great and was calming, she put music on for me to help and wouldnāt have wanted anyone else delivering my babies besides her. The paediatricians were extremely friendly and supported our twins and also my husband who was overwhelmed with the dangerous delivery. The anaesthetist was by my side and very reassuring, sheās a legend. All the nurses, midwives, Doctors in theatre were ALL great. Very appreciative of everyone. In ICU the team were so friendly, I canāt fault a thing from when I was in there. They even took me up in my bed to see my girls the first time after delivery and stayed in NICU with me for hours whilst looking after me. Our twins spent 3 weeks in NICU with the most lovely and caring team. There are many amazing people who looked after our twins there, a special shout out to Janet who took us under her wing and helped us a lot. Her help has impacted our time at home positively with the girls. The NICU team are incredible and we are very thankful. Dr English would visit me consistently after delivery and made sure everything was ok. She would even help me in the wheelchair and wheeled me back from a CT scan instead of me waiting for an orderly. Dr English would visit me in the NICU to checkin and check my blood pressure. She has done more than any other Doctor has and is a very humble person. Any patient of hers is very lucky and Iām beyond appreciative of her commitment to her role, patients and I canāt talk highly enough about her. She also supported me with my scans at Aurora Imaging for the twins and would contact them directly and always touch base. She had Dr Jan Dickenson look after me as my synographer and incase I delivered extra early, she had support in place at King Eddies incase I couldnāt be at Joondalup. The overall experience from every department is impressive and Iām so thankful to everyone. Itās been a month since delivery and Iām reflecting on everything. Our special daughters Amani and Sofia are very thankful and very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās taken me a while to write this review.. my stay in August, giving birth as a first time young mum.
I had many different midwives in and out, most of them lovley! However my mum was very disrespected by some! And then found out it was my mum they were nicerā¦ā¦.. not to mention the lady helping my latch my son, showed that she was clearly annoyed for what ever reason.
I went in for an induction, first day/night did not work so we waited the next to see what my body would do⦠I began experiencing a horrible sickening pain which I though maybe we were getting somewhere, as this pain was quite bad I did ask for painkillers explaining that I was in PAIN crawling on the floor at 2cm dilatedā¦ā¦
I was refused painkillers by an older midwife and she said my only options where to have a balloon through my cervix to get it all going or to suffer.
I was taken to the birthing room to be induced againā¦.. which I made very clear I did not want, I just needed pain killers..
The older lady checked how dilated I am⦠ramming her hand up me like I was a cow! She strapped my belly with monitors, and listened to my healthy baby and began to put the balloon up.. the pain had gotten immensely worse almost unbearable, as for my baby he was very distressed, his heart rate dropping to 60 from 140 consistently up and down⦠she had almost no care and stood their.. she had finally taken it out after I asked 2 times, sitting there WHITE and shaking, my body in absolute shock my mum came to the rescue.. she was straight forward yet nice..pretty much asking WTH are you doingā¦????!! She found a midwife down the hall and demanded a doctor, while this was going on I went to the bathroom⦠to discover a lot of blood and I was told it was normalā¦
They finally listened and sent down a doctor, I was sent to another room
This doctor was quick acting, had his head screwed on! He took me in for an emergency c section, there were a few complications, but I was finally in good hands and he did amazing! The whole team was very supportive and there to help me keep my mind clear
My son was born with no heart beat, told that if they waited one more minute he wouldnāt be here
Today I have a 6 month old and he is the most gorgeous human in the world! All thanks to how fast your team worked and all they did in the operating room! 5 starts for them āļø āļøāļøāļøāļø
As for the birthing sweet..try better to listen
And please do not thank me for my review. Donāt even...
