EDIT and repost from personal account: Response to the owners RUDE response back - We did book via your online booking system and have the confirmation in our work email (not this account) FYI - in order for us to recieve the confirmation the restaurant i.e. YOU needed to say yes to our booking request - which did happen. Secondly, even if it's $3 for corkage, you should have been honest about it . It was nowhere on your information, as you stated. Thirdly, we fully understand that takeaway containers are charged, but $10.50 is absolutely absurd, saying otherwise is ludicrous and scammy. Fourth, using the excuse that the food came out hot to excuse the long wait and fact that we had to chase up the staff is poor. It was NOT busy. Not even half the restaurant was packed. It was evident that your behaviour on the night and your response today confirms your hostility that was witnessed on the night. "Chit-chatting" as you like to call it - in front of the customers is a no.
Your response proves that your service is lacking. The review was done the morning after the dinner BTW.
We had planned this dinner in advance as a work do and had honestly looked forward to it, all the staff were excited and craving curry, but our experience was poor on the night.
Over hyped. Service is lacking.
We booked via their online booking system for a work dinner. The restaurant confirmed our booking.
We arrived on the night, lady at the counter greeted us and we notified her of our booking, to which she confusedly looked at their books and stated we don't have a booking with them, I confirmed we did for 6 people but we have 2 no shows. (3 of us were present and the 4th was running late) She then said "it must be for Peter, right?" We replied "no" there was no male present with that name in our party.
She seated us at a table for four and took the fourth setting away after we said there is four of us dining.
We brought our own drinks as their online menus and information states they're BYO. Our bottles were not corked, opened, poured or chilled. The waitress gave us glasses, that was all - and charged us $12 for using their wine glasses. This was never communicated- only put on our bill.
After seating, we were asked 3 times if we wanted to order mains. We ordered one set of entrees, and reordered entrees a second time so we don't order until the fourth individual arrives.
Upon eating our final entree, I saw two of the ladies standing at the entry to the kitchen staring at our table and talking amongst themselves - it was clear they were talking about our table, it was not pleasant to see.
From there we ordered mains. All arrived timely except the biryani which came out 10-15 minutes after the other mains. And the staff completely forgot one of the rice dishes we had ordered until we questioned them about it and they...
Read moreI went for dinner with my family, and we had entrees, naan bread, steamed rice, and 3 curries to share.
We had for entrees a onion bhadji that it was very doughy and uncooked inside. Had a taste of raw flour. Has been served with 3 sauces, included in price. Just one sauce was really indian. It was a raita, th second one it was a mango jam (not relish) and the 3rd one was plum sauce that has nothing to do with the indian cuisine.
Our curries were butter chicken, chicken korma, and beef vindaloo. All the curry sauces were exactly the same sauce with different colours. In both kichen curries was an impressive quatity of sugar. The butter chicken was still edible, but the chicken korma we could serve for breakfast instead of jam. Chicken meat was cooked on the safe side but was very hard and chewy.
The garlic naan was excellent, fresh and crispy. Papadums were soggy and full of oil, like they had been cooked in the oil before the oil was hot. Ussually, you bend a papadum, and it cracks. These ones, you could roll them in a cylinder. As soft they were..
The service was very good. The waiter was very attentive, took our order very quickly, and brought drinks and cutlery.
In the end, we had nearly touched the man course. We took it home, but i still have it in the fridge after 4 days. Attempted to eat it the next day but was overly sweet.
In the end, we paid nearly $150 for an inedible meal. The owner asked us when we paid how was the meal and we give her our feedback about meals being uncooked (onion bhadji) overly sweet ( chicken korma and butter chicken), excellent ( garlic naan) and wrong ( papadums). She advised us that that is their recipe, but i don't believe that, as they would not have any clients.
We knew that it was probably a genuine mistake made by the chef on the day, but you need to own the responsibility and at least apologise if the client advises that the food was no good.
Conclusion: Service is good but the food is overpriced for what you get. A can of coke nearly $5, a main course is over $22 and the steamed rice is extra, sauces of the curry are all the same taste and just different coulour, you can go in a day when the chef drops the sugar container in the food, the owner is cranky. There are not too many pluses and way too many minuses.
We'll think twice before we go back. If we...
Read moreA restaurant that will service you humiliation, verbal abuse, poor customer service and definitely no food! When I placed the order, the pick up time was 20 minutes which later changed to an additional 40 minutes. I called the restaurant to ask why there was a delay to just two small starter items and the girl on the phone was very rude and said they were busy and if I want to cancel the order, I would need to contact Menulog. According to Menulog, the food had already been started so I would still be charged if I cancelled, therefore I left it and waited for 40 mins for my food. When I went to collect the order, the food had not even been started and the manager claimed that I should have called back to let them know that I didn't want to cancel - even though according to the app, my order had not been cancelled and the order continued to progress and said the food was ready for collection. I asked her why it had not been cancelled on her end if she was not cooking the food to which she claimed that she was unable to do it and that was menulogs problem. She wanted me to wait for another 30 mins and on top of this raised her voice and verbally abused me - including asking me to "come behind the counter and do it myself." I was extremely humiliated by the service of the restaurant, being yelled at in front of the other customers and other staff. I would not be ordering from this restaurant ever again and highly recommend anyone who doesn't wish to get a side of abuse with their dinner do the same. Additionally, the manager was not even wearing a mask whilst yelling at me and both her waitstaff - who conveniently stood there and listened to me getting yelled at - were wearing a mask beneath their nose. Perhaps the restaurant need to take some lessons in customer service and how to properly wear a mask during...
