We were visiting Cairns for a family visit and decided to do the Skyrail Cable car ride which was highly recommended. And now I totally agree. Its totally worth the hype.
Skyrail takes you high above the forest and gives you the sense of how big this rainforest is. The scenery is very captivating. If you chose the Diamond carriage (ones with glass floors), you will have an immersive experience of flying above the trees. Although its about $20 additional for this ride.
There are 4 stations to this ride and you have the option to get down at any one and go for a sight seeing in the jungle over carefully created boardwalks. You even have a beautiful waterfall view. Once you are done sight seeing just hop on to the next cable car and move on to the next stop.
The one side destination is Kuranda village which has a beautiful town and an even more beautiful river. We sat by the river for a couple of hours relaxing and taking in the serenity.

Read moreService hasn't started for the day due to "technical difficulties". It's now 1pm, and no alternate transport has been arranged, and the staff state no decision has been made on whether service will run today, and no timeframe can be offered for a decision being made.
SkyRail should have been running shuttle buses within an hour of the scheduled start time, and continued them throughout the day or until service resumed and any backlog was cleared.
The interruption is frustrating, but the abject failure to manage how that interruption will affect your customers is unacceptable.
I understand that safety is critical to your operation, but as it stands you have hundreds of ticket holders marooned at Kuranda stuck having to pay for taxis or Ubers to get back down.
We overheard fellow marooned customers saying that they are almost certain to miss their flight later today due to your failure to manage...

On the day when we showed up, it was quite foggy. At first we were apprehensive but were quite surprised when we finally got on our way. We got some fantastic looking photos, and the views were still just as stunning, if not more. It was a sort of darker, more eerie rainforest that we saw on the way up, the green of the forest breaking out occasionally from amongst the dense grey fog and disappearing again the higher we climbed.
Obviously some of the views would have been better if there wasn't fog blocking the way such as the waterfall at baron falls, but what could this company really do about that ey? We still managed to get a good view of the waterfall in the end, just a little foggier then usual.
Overall we had a ball, and would highly recommend the Skyrail,...
