Ate here with my partner today and ordered a chicken Laksa and chicken and cashew stir-fry. The stir-fry was decent; a no-frills dish but fresh and tasty. Really enjoyed it. The Laksa was dreadful. Watery, and full of cabbage? The noodles and veg inside were also overcooked. We ended up picking out the chicken and leaving the rest. The flavour was nothing close to any other Laksa I’ve eaten - and I’ve eaten a lot. We believe it was a packet mix of some sort. very disappointing, especially for the price.
Also ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee which, again, was not close to any other “Vietnamese” iced coffee I’ve seen/had. I was expecting the strong hot coffee dripping over a glass of condensed milk and ice. I got a lukewarm, weak Nescafé with a few ice cubes in a milkshake glass.
The food arrived very fast and the staff were pleasant but overall, it was a disappointing lunch. Thankfully the stir fry was yummy and filled us up. Was going to say I wouldn’t recommend but after walking around looking at other meal options in Kuranda I think this definitely isn’t the worst there is! At least there is a nice verandah to sit on...

Unlike the photo on the menu showing large mussels and chunky, scored squid pieces as you usually do, what I got was a pretty thin soup with some marinara mix thrown in, complete with rubbery squid rings; at $3 more than advertised online! Looks like prices have risen not once but at least twice since they were published. Then today I had the Pad Thai. Ok-ish, but at checkout instead of the $17.90 displayed on the menu right there in the shop, the lady tried to ring up well over $20! If you’re here and this is all that’s open, for sure. But I don’t think I’ll make...
Read moreA bit hidden from the main road in the town. Just walk to the very end of the alley and you can use their rear deck area to enjoy a tasty thai meal. Food is served very fast and staff is quite friendly. The prawn pad thai had what appeared to be hand peeled tiger prawns which tasted distinctly different from the typical frozen prawns. The tom yum fried rice was fine. Lao style papaya salad had a really pungent fish sauce. I recommend thai style if you cannot tolerate the “a barrel of dead fish under the sun for a week” smell. Price is decent as far as tourist...
