In the year 2023, I made a conscious choice to donate my Double Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot, known as 'Comet,' to BirdWorld Kuranda. Comet's release date into the park on 28th October 2023, was an extremely important, special event for us both I didn't want to miss. Upon my few visits seeing Comet happy, contended had given me peace of mind. However my last visit, (October 2024),I was SHOCKED to learn that Comet had been STOLEN 4 months earlier, along with two crowned Amazons and Alexandrine Parrots. These thefts occurred on separate occasions within a span of two weeks.!! 😡 I am devastated, SHOCKED, overwhelmed with grief and sickened by this news, which is an extreme understatement & I struggle to comprehend how such incidents could happen repeatedly.!! My deep sorrow is indescribable., Comet had not even spent 9 months in the freedom of this park !! 😭😭 . It would have been considerate for the park to inform me of Comet's disappearance, (I know their not obligated) but a certain individual was aware of my bond, love & the difficult decision I had made to surrender Comet. The pain of losing Comet is something I cannot adequately express, as my love for him had never waned, not even in a day gone by. What was one of the most challenging choices I had to make in life has now become a total nightmare & the fact I will probably NEVER see beloved COMET again, this grief and bigger loss will always remain with me. !!! What suppose to be Comet's forever home & to be able to visit him anytime has ruined and devastated me. His presence at BirdWorld was less than 12 months, which begs many unanswered questions, security, safety , staff, protection, camera's, entry and existing protocols ?IN MEMORY OF COMET, always in...
Read moreThere are many reviews which speak of the welfare of the birds however all attractions similar to this one include some form of caging otherwise it wouldn’t be an attraction. While I would like to hope the welfare of the birds surpasses the business’s profit margins, I simply can’t complain with the amazing experience both myself and my Mother had!
The interactive hands on time spent with so many beautiful and exotic birds is one you can’t find elsewhere! The price is fair considering there is no time limit and the large variety of birds you can view, many during our visit who were nesting and preparing for Spring - simply awesome to witness.
For an additional $3 a party (only 1 bag per group) can purchase bird food including an assortment of nuts, grains, fruit and vegetables suitable to all varieties of birds. I believe this is a small sum to pay for extensive time spent with many of the birds happily perched on you consuming their treats.
This is a much better attraction to support when compared to the ‘Kuranda Koala Gardens’, which place their animals under much stress with the excessive touching and “cuddling” experiences they use these beautiful creatures for.
Birdworld is overall a fantastic experience and worth the money, however if you have young children who may be afraid of large birds (and their poop) or you yourself are, this isn’t the...
Read morePaid $97.50 to the Koala Gardens (birdworld and wildlife). Granted we got there at 245pm so had to rush a little as it all closed at 4pm and last entry to birdworld was at 330pm. The wildlife section was okay, kids got to feed and pat the roos and wallabys. Saw the koalas, wombats out running around, freshwater crocs, snakes, so it was okay. Birdworld though was a complete waste of time. Birds just biting your ears fingers and feet. Granted you cant control or predict what wild birds will do, when asked a birdworld employee to help choose a bird to put on our 4 and 6 year old daughters arm or shoulder, one that is least likely to bite them we were told its not safe for her to touch the birds and not safe for us or our kids. Its a shame we were not told this before we paid. We have been to the bird sanctuary at Marleny and the wildlife park at yeppoon were the staff help place birds on adults and kids and make it an enjoyable experience. Birdworld is nothing like the 2 i just mentioned and would not recommend Birdworld to anyone thinking about attending especially if...
