Read moreKuranda, popularly known as 'the Village in the Rainforest is a charming and picturesque little village north of Cairns. The village is surrounded by a diverse tropical rainforest, which is listed as a World Heritage site, and is rich in Aboriginal culture.
It can easily be explored on foot because most of the stores, buildings and attractions are adjacent to each other. Aside from the Kuranda Markets, other popular attractions include the Butterfly Sanctuary, Bird Aviary Koala Park, Barron Falls and of course the Scenic Rides.
There are also walking tracts through the rainforests, along the river and esplanade with information about each walk at the start of the trail. A wide selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs offering local and international cuisines is also available.
