Deer Park — Local services in Melbourne

This station is nearing completion after a rather lengthy construction period. The platforms are raised allowing Mt Derrimut Rd to be spared the boom gates. The station is a mixture of positives and negatives. Landscaping, including roof beds is excellent, and the mature plantings should be spectacular. Unfortunately the platforms are very exposed. Roofing is inadequate and rain is able to reach seating on both platforms. Contrast this with new Metro stations which are fully roofed. There are considerable problems with water collecting in the large area beneath the platforms.Rectifying this looks like becoming an expensive nightmare. There are now toilets, a waiting room and a Vline office. Safe bike storage is also available. Car parking is huge, with disabled parking near the station entrance. Massive redevelopment of either and overpass or underpass is needed. Such a critical station for a growing area both industrial and residential. This is the the worst planned area of Melbourne. If I catch a bus to get me to the Station because I can't get parking during the day I am guaranteed that I will miss the train because the bus stop is always on the wrong side of the road then have wait for traffic lights and boom gates- the connecting times seem logical on google maps to get you there on time. massive fail! I know I am guaranteed a parking spot before 7.30 am on a Mon - Fri and Sat/Sun anytime. I have also missed trains because I get caught at the boom gates waiting for trains to go by!

On the plus side l love the service of 20 mins to get me into town when not crowded and train...

This station serves its major purpose reasonably well, but there are a few problems that have to be addressed. While accessing the station is not particularly challenging, it could be a lot better if there was some sort of underpass that made accessing the platform a whole lot easier. There are bus services that stop near the station but hardly any that stop inside the station itself, I think they definitely need to make a designated bus bay and more frequent services so it discourages people from taking up the limited number of parking bays available, which is certainly an issue for a...
