Chain of Fools Cafe - A favourite of the locals and named after the owner's favourite song! Always greeted with smiles when I appear, this is a must-visit cafe/restaurant as it's charm, energy and variety of menu options is hard to beat in the Bay-side area! I had the pleasure of having a wonderful 'Big Breakfast' today and my partner had the sumptuous 'Fools avo poached eggs'. The servings were just right and the visual presentation was - as usual - very creative! (Please see photos for reference). Well balanced vegetables including blanched spinach, fried mushrooms & tomatoes on sourdough toast with 2 poached eggs and a small bowl of fried beans. Now you do get the bacon normally but I opted for more cheese (haloumi in this case)! I cannot fault the taste and textures and the cooking method was excellent as the food was moist/tender and not dry or parched. The delicate Fools avo breakfast dish is something to behold with a well-decorated half avocado appearing to dominate the plate - with poached eggs on toast and a swirl of beetroot dip with garnish to boot. I can say the utmost care has been taken to entertain the customer besides satisfying the palate and this is quite a welcome gesture in today's cafe climate. The drink options are numerous - the chai is delicious and coffee is made well - and the customer service excels in every way. If there is anything you need, the lovely staff will ensure it is done in a timely fashion. Pricing is consistent with the area and surrounds, however there re a few surprises on the menu worth the low asking price. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chain of Fools Café, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The café offers an impressive selection of breakfast and lunch options, with a unique twist on some signature dishes.

One of the highlights for us was the vegetarian burger, which was not only flavorful but also satisfying. The standout dish, however, was the curry of the day—a beef curry that was rich in flavor and perfectly spiced. The Indian, Middle eastern slant on their burgers adds a lovely touch that sets them apart from typical offering .

What truly made our visit memorable was the staff. They were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. It was heartwarming to see senior staff actively training new team members in such a positive and encouraging manner, which speaks volumes about the café's culture.

Stopped by Chain of Fools Café in Mentone and was genuinely impressed. The location is perfect — right across from the beach, with a relaxed, welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay a little longer. Whether you’re popping in for a quick coffee or enjoying a sit-down brunch, this place delivers.

The coffee was absolutely spot on — rich, smooth, and expertly made.

What really made the visit memorable was the warm and genuine hospitality. Ravi, the owner, is an absolute legend. Friendly, down-to-earth, and always making sure customers are looked after. You can tell he pours his heart into the place, and it shows — both in the service and the atmosphere.
