I was so excited to visit this bookshop because I really liked the interior design, and i also expected a nice collection of books because the google reviewers said so. turned out it was a disappointment. Environmental study has its own section, which is fair enough - but that politics has no more books than environmental is beyond me. The collection of history is so small that i didn't even know what to do with it - it was so little that it was not even categorised into different regions e.g., Europe, West Asia, America etc. Lots of space was taken by parenting, young adults, sports and junior fiction - I guess there's nothing wrong with it, it's just that I visited the wrong place

I love the Readings bookstores in Melbourne and having read that they've opened a new store in the CBD a few years ago, it was one of the first places I visited when I came down recently. It's a beautiful store with an amazingly extensive selection of books. Being an avid reader and traveller, when I came across the travel section I was in travel book heaven and the dedicated books on Melbourne display was genius. If you need some respite from all the shopping and the busyness of the city then this bookstore is an ideal sanctuary to slow down and grab your favourite book/s!

I came across this charming bookstore a while ago, but made a mental note today to take some photos. It’s really sweet and quiet inside, so you can find a nook to read a chapter or two. Great range of books and there are often books across a range of topics on sale. I love the personal hand written summary or a specific books it’s reminds me of the staff picks back in the blockbuster days. Lots of seating on offer through the store. It’s hard not to pick something extra up while you’re in line waiting to pay for your item. A must visit.

The manager is fantastic. I made a ridiculous request a while ago and she was amazing at handling and looking into the matter and explaining to me. Finally wrote a review today , as I asked a staff member for book recommendations. I was quite annoying and specific about the request but they found specific books that really suited what I was looking for without me elaborating too much. Thank you Readings 💜

Also note to anyone leaving reviews and having thoughts/grievances, it is worth emailing into the Readings e-mailbox or asking to speak with the staff, they are usually quite reasonable and...

I shop here regularly and have bought lots of children's books. The store is nice, selection is pretty good. However the staff / customer service is hit and miss. We've had some lovely staff members who genuinely seem happy when talking about and recommending kids books. I've also had some staff being rude, including on my most recent visit - No eye contact , short and curt answers, pushed the books into my hands rather aggressively. In short, this staff member seemed like doing her job was an imposition. In front my child as well. I think If you can get the book elsewhere...
