I first went to this Market back in 1997. It was such an busy market with a community atmosphere, laid back vibe, and a particularly interesting array of handmade products. At that time it seemed to be the only market of its kind down on the Mornington Peninsula and was only on once each month. Over the ensuing 10 or so years it continued to prosper - but gradually another couple of community markets started up on the alternate Saturdays each month. The existing Red Hill traders started trading also at those other markets which meant that their wares had to be made each week rather than just over the month and obviously needed a lot more - thus the variety and uniqueness of the items sold became less and less interesting...The Covid years also have served to lessen the attraction of patrons to such markets as people have found other far less interesting ways to spend their dollars - devoid of actual human interaction. Most of the original stallholders whom I got to know over the years have moved on - there was a "hard-sell" feel to some of the traders who have now replaced them - which detracts from the original community feel which was at its core. I still enjoy the market but its attraction has certainly been dimmed significantly. I pray that over time it will again find its feet and niche to regain its community...

Now it's good for maybe family with kids but otherwise it's nothing extraordinary. Glad they have firies, royal flying doctor and other services but when you say community market, the whole essence just got broader and charging $20 per adult, which is mentioned almost nowhere when you search for this market with such good reviews.
Glad to keep the community spirit going but at...

The vendors are friendly and knowledgeable about their products, so it makes for a really enjoyable experience. It's also quite affordable - almost everything is reasonably priced so you can get great value for your money.
I would definitely recommend this market to anyone looking for fresh produce or a unique...
