Disappointing Experience on the Great Ocean Road Tour. Poor Service and No Response

My partner and I joined the Great Ocean Road day tour with Wine Hop And Coastal Tours on April 24 and, unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.

To begin with, we only received our pick-up location the day before the tour, making it difficult to plan our morning and adding unnecessary stress.

However, the biggest issue was that the air conditioning on the bus was not working, despite the tour being advertised as air-conditioned. It was unbearably hot inside the vehicle especially in the back, where we were seated. The windows were fogged up from humidity, and the driver had to completely air out the bus during a stop. Even after that, the air remained stifling, and the situation felt more like a sauna than a scenic tour. I developed a headache and nausea from the heat and could barely enjoy anything. Other passengers were also clearly uncomfortable.

In the late morning, we were told a replacement bus would be arranged. By midday, we were promised it would arrive soon. Eventually, we were told it might come in the evening but in the end, no replacement bus ever arrived.

The heat became so unbearable that we left the tour early at the first drop-off point in Melbourne. To make things worse, the driver spoke so loudly through the microphone that it physically hurt our ears. Even after we asked him to turn the volume down, nothing changed.

We contacted the company right after the tour to report all of this and request compensation…but now, four weeks later, we still haven’t received any response. This lack of accountability and customer care is unacceptable.

We expected a relaxing and memorable experience but were instead left with discomfort, disappointment, and zero follow up. Would...

I had an issue with the bus driver of this company on the 13th of March so I emailed them on that day. They haven't bothered to reply so I'll put the contents of my email on here instead: At around 530am on 13 Mar, 2024, I was driving to Melbourne CBD when I got on to the Eastern Freeway at Nunawading. I was in the left lane and your bus was in the centre lane with room in front of it. I went to change lanes and the bus driver sped up to block me from getting in front of him, to the point where he was illegally tail gating the truck in front of him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe he didn't see my indicator, although this wouldn't explain why he started tail gating the truck in front of him. I then slowed down to go around him from behind and he slowed down also. Then the car in front of me tried to get into the centre lane and again, the bus accelerated to block this person from getting in front of him. I managed to get around the bus from behind and get into the far right lane and when I got alongside the bus, the driver was death staring me (it looked like a guy with a beard but it was hard to tell due to the reflections of headlights etc). I continued on my way until eventually hitting a 80kmh construction zone when I saw your bus fly past me so I accelerated to see how fast he was going in this 80kmh zone and he was doing over 100kmh (I got to 100kmh and he was still getting away from me, and I wasn't prepared to speed even more than I already was). There are other negative Google reviews about your drivers so this doesn't seem to be an...

We took tour today in Sydney to Blue mountain. We came from San Francisco to tour Australia. And today is our worst day in Australia and thanks to this tour company Website clearly said pick up will be around 7AM but yesterday we receive a note that pick up at 6:20AM and we need to walk a out 10 min to pick up location. Our hotel serves breakfast only at 6:30AM and we are diabetic and we can't walk without having something to eat. So we requested to pick us up around 6:45 if not 7AM. They were so rude and send one line message it can't be changed. They are so arrogant they changed pick up time 40mins early and no consideration for diabetes patients. Scenic world was closed due to some issue. We understand these things. Their alternative arrangement is that they took us to local library and made us to spend 2 hours there. And no sorry and no apologies. Knowing their treatment to customers not sure whether they will refund scenic world entry fee or not. If similar thing happened in USA not only tour company will issue apologies but will compensate additionally for spoiling our vacations.

If you visiting Australia, avoid this tour company. They are very rude and absolutely they don't care for customers.

Only satisfaction thing in all this was our type guide Karen was very pleasant and knowledgeable. She was very informative. This company doesn't deserve such nice guide tours. Hope Karen will work for a better...

We had an unforgettable experience on the Blue Mountains Adventure Day Tour with Wine Hop and Coastal Tour on Sunday, 04 May. Huge thanks to our amazing guides, Matt and Jacob — their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail made the day extra special. They communicated everything clearly throughout the day, kept us on schedule, and ensured everyone’s safety and comfort — especially on the bus and during transitions between sites. We felt completely at ease, and we deeply appreciate how considerate they were in assisting my husband, who is handicapped. Their kindness did not go unnoticed and made a world of difference for us. The tour itself was packed with highlights: breathtaking views from Scenic World’s thrilling rides, peaceful moments at hidden waterfalls and scenic lookouts, and a relaxing cruise across Sydney Harbour with views of the iconic skyline. We also loved the FREE digital koala photo at Sydney Zoo — such a fun souvenir from an already incredible day! From ancient rock formations to lush valleys and cascading waterfalls, this tour gave us a rich, immersive taste of the Blue Mountains. Thank you again to Matt, Jacob, and the whole team for making it so smooth, safe, and memorable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sydney!

Kay is an amazing guide! I had a one-day tour visiting Puffing billy, Healesville Sanctuary, Yarra Valley Chocolaterie. That tour made my day so beautiful. Highly recommend to everyone.

Worst tour guide ever (THEO) After we did the Ocean Road Tour we can say that we had such a bad experience due to a really rude and unprofessional guide. His name was Theo, and after we did one of the first stops (in the ocean road sign) we kindly asked him if he was ok to take a picture of my partner and myself. He then replied that he was busy and in a rush, but at the same time, he was asking other people to take pictures of them. We were a bit shocked with his answer as he was one of the guides, so we just walked away. A few minutes after, we asked the other guide what was his name. Then he came to us and started shouting in a really bad way and a bit aggressive the following: “Why you asked for my name? You can make a complaint if you want, I don’t care”. We were even more shocked with his behavior as we were just trying to avoid him. As he walked away, he made fun of our accent by saying “ciao bello”. He just made us feel really uncomfortable for the rest of the tour. So sad as we have to say that the tour and the stops that we did they were really good. Just hope whoever is doing this tour, you don’t have Theo as your guide.
