Had a full day tour of 6 wineries. We were picked up promptly and Tony our driver was very friendly and courteous. Our 1st winery 791 was very good and we bought wine there with no tasting fee. All the other wineries had a tasting fee which we have never encountered before on our tours of Mudgee. Our 2nd winery 1838 had a a tasting fee and the wines were expensive. We did not participate as we refused to pay for expensive wines and a tasting fee. The rest of the day involved wine tasting with fees but cheaper wines. We bought wine at these wineries. Lunch at Walters was excellent with prompt service. It is greed by winery owners where a local tour operator brings 12 -14 people to a winery and the owner charges a fee for tasting when the participants purchase wines from them. Next time we will not use the tour operator and just drive around ourselves due to the tasting fees adding an extra $30 per person to the day. The trouble is the winery owners don't care because they are being flooded...
Read moreWe recently booked a group of 10 with Mudgee Wine and Country Tours...
At $150pp with lunch included.
Well our first stop at Gooree Cellar Door + Pantry was a delight. The gentleman had so much information and history and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We would definitely visit again.
The next two were pretty ordinary, we were told the name of the wine and asked if we wanted to try it. No effort whatsoever.
By the 3rd and last Winery (As we ended it short) ... wasn't great. We were all looking forward to a nice lunch.. to be handed a piece of paper (almost like a school canteen order) and told to place our order. A choice of a pie, pasite, pizza, or grazing plate... We all ordered pizzas and they were below average.
So we pretty much paid $1,500 for a lift and some below average pizza.
Very disappointing, Would not recommend. Better to do some research on wineries before...
Read moreWe had a fantastic experience on our first post isolation excursion! Out driver Ken was very knowledgeable and took great care of us following always all the Covid-19 requirements. We were lucky to be only 4 ppl because of that but got a bit spoiled 😀😜 The only minus point was on the lunch, the place was completely busy and didn't pay attention at the organised tour guests but rather gave priority to independent guests, we were served only 3 wines for tasting without being asked anything.
I would definitely recommend Mudge Wine...
