I am often on the search for a bakery that serves a great salad roll when I travel rural NSW. Mudgee Bakery and Cafe really fulfilled the brief. Our salad rolls were so well filled, fresh and delicious. We were so impressed by this bakery - from the fresh squeezed juice, to the great initiative of bringing your own bread bag. We also loved the sweet treats made specifically for breast cancer awareness. The service was VERY friendly. They also had great ordering and food pickup systems. This bakery is so good and from our experience is doing everything right. We wouldn’t change a thing. Wish we had a similar bakery near our home in Sydney!

Fantastic bakery with a great range of coffees and drinks, hot and cold, savoury and sweet pies and pastries. The Mexican pie and the potato, pea and beef pie were absolute winners; full of flavour with the flakiest pastry. The apple turnovers and berry turnovers were so flakey and not too sweet, with generous amounts of cream and fruit. The doughnuts were fluffy, and glazed with the perfect amount of sweetness. The servers were the loveliest people with the best kind of humour (especially considering they open at 4:30 in the morning). You’d be missing out giving this place a pass. We came two days in a row.

I ordered a 12x12 double layer sponge cake for my mother's 90th birthday party last weekend at a cost of $120 and was extremely disappointed with the lettering! Basic stencilling on a $120 cake is not good enough for that cost! I was expecting the lettering to be done in icing and piped not something that looked so cheap and nasty. I ended up having to cover the lettering with candles to disguise how awful it was.

We stopped here on our road trip to grab a few things. There was a big selection on offer, so I asked if they made everything in-house and the answer didn’t seem very convincing 🤷‍♂️

The coffees were pretty good. The little banoffee tart was amazing! The veggie pastry roll (‘sausage’ roll) was also good, as was the Vegemite scroll and chocolate cream bun. But the croissant was definitely not a croissant, it was like brioche bread in the shape of a croissant… a bit disappointing.

Judging by some other reviews, some things might be a bit hit and miss, but overall I thought it was okay. I would probably stop again if I was passing, but wouldn’t go...
