The service at this cafe was disappointing and the food was worse still. My partner and I asked for a table and the staff glanced around before telling us it was full. We asked if it was okay to wait and the lady said she didn’t know how long it would be. At that moment, two tables cleared inside and we asked if we could sit. After sitting down, we ordered via the QR code on the table.

I got the bacon & egg roll with side of hash, while my partner got the omelette. The breading for the roll was dense and firm (reminiscent of a scone) and the base was near burnt too. Despite all the ingredients, I could taste was the sweet bbq sauce. The most unpleasant thing was probably the homemade (?) hash brown. Not only did it look browned, it was soggy and tasted like a sad potato salad. My partner’s omelette was interesting, whereby bits of bacon are wrapped in an overcooked blanket of egg. The side (rye?) bread was unsurprisingly dense and didn’t taste like much. Both dishes look rather unappealing (as shown in the photos).

The only saving grace was the iced coffee. However, even then, the coffee taste was lacking.

Two improvements should be considered: service and food. It would be great if there was a system in place for waiting customers, such as a list, especially on the weekends. However, I find that this standard of service is quite common in regional NSW. Additionally, the dishes we ordered were not great and I would implore the chef to taste these dishes before further service.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this cafe based on their service and food. For Sydney prices, I expected the quality of food (and/or service) to be on par or better. However, perhaps my expectations were too high for...

We went in a group of 5 with our booking, it was 3 degrees outside and we sat down freezing inside. The tables next to us were also shivering. We saw there was a reverse cycle air conditioner mounted on the wall but off. We asked the waitress if the could turn it on as even with our winters puffy jackets it was beyond freezing today. We orders the food, there wasn’t much selection on the lunch menu. I ordered the gnocchi a dish with 7 small pieces of gnocchi came out. My friend on the table laughed and said ‘where’s the rest of it’. I’ve ordered gnocchi many times and this was honestly the most dissatisfying dish I’ve had. Su ch a small serving that we knew we had to go to another venue later to fill up properly. The gnocchi was completely bland, it tasted like bites of bread put in the oven. It was extremely dry, I cannot believe it can even be called gnocchi. The sauce was even more bland. I was expecting a nice hearty plate that’s moist and sauce to warm me up. It’s definitely not what I got. We tried to order chips, but got told they had no chips. It’s just plain cut up cubes of potato fried. The child that we had ordered that for hated it, didn’t eat more than 2 bits, it’s also what was served with the burgers. We aren’t sure why they can’t just do yummy normal chips. One of us had the croquettes only 3 small croquettes all burnt with a small salad, not what you would expect. My partner said his burger was average tasting and small. Extremely disappointed, after we paid and left we went to another restaurant to eat more as we weren’t even full from the tiny meals. We would never go back nor recommend...

We were surprised that this cafe had a 4.5 star rating. Customer service was non existent. We asked if there was a table and quite bluntly got told that it was at least a 20 minute wait. Looking inside there were a few tables which were empty and without a reserve sign. I then approached the waiter to ask about the empty tables and then we were promptly seated. Food was not great either - notwithstanding that the hash brown was burnt, I would highly recommend the chef eat the hash brown before serving it again. The bacon and egg roll, also burnt, just had too much sauce. The omelette was OK, however the sauces did not come with the food and came out 1/2 way through the meal, after checking in with the waiter. Iced latte and iced coffee was very watered down. Overall, perhaps we are used to Sydney Cafes and maybe it was just a one off experience as all the other reviews were amazing, but the quality of food and service that we had today just does not warrant a 4.5...

Excellent Food!!! This is one place where you will love the quality of food. We were not happy as Avo smash was finished but went ahead with Toastie of the day along with kids pancake & a southern fried chicken burger. The chicken was amazingly crispy (and I’ve tried KFC in tons of places but this is whole new level); Toastie was filling and I realised why it was recommended by few others. Pancakes were amazing because they did not try to overload it with tons of items & got the basic fluffiness right along with Maple syrup and ice-cream (they asked us if we wanted it and it was hot day) The milkshake glass was surprisingly huge (my kid loved it) Highly recommended having breakfast here if you’re in Mudgee!!!
