The only way to I can describe my experience at The Butcher Shop Cafe, would be a comedy of errors, nothing seemed to go right for them. When we first arrived we were told that we were allowed to sit down and eat but they would only offer takeaway, I have no issue with that, but it begged the question why? When we did finally order food we were taken back by the exuberant pricing, I find the issue with these newly renovated and “trendy” cafes bank on their branding and image to justify their prices without being able to back it up with any sort of culinary skills, I paid over $85 for two breakfasts and left wishing I went to Maccas instead. I ordered the fritters which were rubbery and flavourless, and the smashed avo was over priced for a lacklustre serving, the price of their add on were excessive and baffling, especially seeing the quality of these add ons, the bacon was $6 and burnt, and the hash browns, the hash browns are beyond understanding, I mistook them for brownies, extremely over cooked and down right disgusting, the idea that they felt comfortable serving that after paying such a high price just shows just shows the lack of care or passion they have. This is not a cafe I can recommend, I left with an iced latte, because I wanted to give them the best chance at succeeding, but even then, they show their lack of professionalism and skills, asking high prices for what I can only explain as questionable, I did see they were hiring a new barista, so maybe it’s growing pains, but to pair bad food, bad coffee and bad customer services with a bill I’d only expect to pay for something that would hit all three markers, it’s disappointing to see them sacrifice “Good” for “Aesthetic”.
Unfortunately I cannot in good faith recommend anyone for here, no redeeming factors for my visit...
Read moreI absolutely despise writing negative reviews, but my recent experience at this establishment was nothing short of surreal. How on earth does this place manage to maintain a 4.2 rating? On Sunday, the 2nd of June, my party of four arrived at around 10:30 am. We were greeted with an attitude that left us dumbfounded. The staff, apparently overwhelmed by their own success, curtly informed us, “Can’t you see we’re busy? Only outside tables.” No warm welcome, no consideration for paying customers—just a dismissive wave towards the outdoor seating. My partner’s reaction summed it up perfectly: “Wow, that was rude.” And indeed it was. It’s as if they thrive on alienating patrons. Well, congratulations, dear restaurant—you’ve succeeded. We won’t be returning, and I’ll make sure to steer everyone I know away from your establishment. If you enjoy being treated like an inconvenience rather than a valued guest, by all means, visit this place. Otherwise, save yourself the frustration and explore other dining options in the area. Trust me, you won’t miss anything by...
Read moreWalked in and asked if there was a table for two, response “ if you can find one, otherwise we are full”.
The cafe was busy however we found a table straight away.
Ordered the pancakes for breakfast, $26 plus a 15% surcharge so almost $30.
50 minutes later we asked if our food was coming? Response “we are busy, I’ll check”
We were told “because of the pancakes the order is taking a while” even though the table next to us (who arrived later) received their pancakes.
When I received my pancake it was well undercooked, the waitress agreed and asked if I wanted another one, which I declined, luckily enough, I received a partial refund and left.
Wouldn’t recommend this place when it’s busy. Also think $30 for one pancake is a...
